Capital Gazette takes hit at Trump: 'We won't forget being called an enemy of the people'
The Hill ^ | 07/01/18 | Morgan Gstalter

The staff of the Capital Gazette took a jab at President Trump, days after a gunman opened fired in their newsroom and killed five people.

The staff of the Annapolis, Md., newspaper released a letter on Sunday to thank those who have offered support in the aftermath of the shooting.

“We won’t forget being called an enemy of the people,” the staff wrote. “No, we won’t forget that. Because exposing evil, shining light on wrongs and fighting injustice is what we do.”

Their comment appears to be a thinly-veiled hit at Trump’s use of the phrase to attack members of the media.

Trump has used the term consistently throughout his contentious relationship with the press.

Most recently, Trump rallied against NBC and CNN last month for its coverage of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“Our Country’s biggest enemy is the Fake News so easily promulgated by fools!” Trump tweeted in June.

The president backed off his criticism of the media one day after the shooting and offered rare praise for reporters.

“Journalists, like all Americans, should be free from the fear of being violently attacked while doing their job,” Trump said Friday at an event to celebrate six months of the GOP tax bill.

CNN’s Jim Acosta shouted at Trump from the back of the room during the event.

“Mr. President, will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people?” Acosta yelled.

CNN later aired a montage on Friday of Trump talking down about the media.

“No, we won’t forget that. Because exposing evil, shining light on wrongs and fighting injustice is what we do.”

Then you are not a NEWSpaper. You are an opinion rag. Probably a puppet of the DNC, telling people what they should believe. Being attacked by a nut with a shotgun makes you largely unlucky - nuts exist, and they sometimes kill. But your statement proves you are NOT there to tell the truth about what is happening, Crusader Rabbit!

I wish these media morons would try to remember that it was not Trump that started this war. It was the media that first called Trump an “enemy” of the people. The media is engaging in typical projection.

This is probably the most attention that they have had in 20 years and they are going to make the most of it. What does it matter if it is on the backs of their dead friends and colleagues?

The story done on Ramos was honest and factual story of a twisted obssessed cyber stalker who ruined the life of a near random woman he dug up from his HS yearbook

Thats why his defamation suit was tossed

The Capital Gazette and the rest of Fake media are making themselves soft and attractive targets for kooks and terrorists.

The People are sick of their lies and treason.

Their actions and reactions after the deaths of their colleagues have been tacky and bizarre in equal measure.

‘We are publishing a damn paper tomorrow’ - Why? Wouldn’t skipping a day be more of a tribute? How good will a paper compiled in a few minites be?

Apparently they ‘printed’ a blank page as an editorial ‘tribute.’ But it’s really just more unoriginality and cliche posing as sentiment.

This tragic episode has proven that virtue signalers have no actual virtue, only lame pseudoemotional gestures.

The gazette problem has nothing to do with politics.

It does now.

Does the Capital Gazette know the difference between responsible journalism and socialist propaganda?

Do they feel guilty because failure to report honestly and completely does not make anyone a friend?

Do they understand that President Trump is speaking for millions of people when he calls out dishonest, irresponsible reporting?

Is the Capital Gazette part of CNN or do they get their "news" from CNN? They should start to get their information elsewhere; maybe do their own research.

Nobody, not right or left, wants to see an inch beyond. The right can’t let humans mourn without mocking. The left can’t print a R.I.P. list. This will not go anywhere good.

“We won’t forget being called an enemy of the people,” the staff wrote. “No, we won’t forget that. Because exposing evil, shining light on wrongs and fighting injustice is what we do.”

The major media are undoubtedly the enemy of the people.

Nobody knows anything about a small paper like the Capital Gazette.

The Capital Gazette is a victim of a local lunatic concerning local issues/non-issues.

The Capital Gazette is taking advantage of the deaths to take a nonsensical political shot at President Trump.

Screw you Capital Gazette, turns out you're propagandists after all and an enemy of the people.

Where has conservatism gone when it can’t even conserve human consideration. The left became moral runts and now the right has too.

Owned by the “Never Trump” Baltimore Sun.

They have received their orders and they had better carry them out if they want to keep their scribbling Grubb street jobs.
