I have found that it is best to first identify those who are open to new ideas. For me, this normally starts with these questions:

Which is more important? Ideology or Facts/truth

If they respond by answering facts or truth, the next question determines their intellectual honesty.

If a fact contradicts what you believe or ideology, are you willing to change what you believe?

The sad truth is, many will say “yes” but only as a reflexive response. In reality, they will often use one of the logic fallacies (https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/) to defend their ideology.

HOWEVER, unless you can get them to a “yes”, it is not even worth talking to them as your logic and arguments will be ignored. So I use it as a filter. If no one is listening, what is the sense in talking?
