Note to self. If I drop my gun, DO NOT pick it up in front of cops.
University police forces tend to scrape the bottom of the barrel for recruits.
The cop involved in the highly publicized shoot-the-fleeing-suspect-in-the-back incident had gotten fired from the University of Pittsburgh police force.
Yeah - and don't go dancing with it either ...
Do not try to break up bar fights. They could be brothers and then you have to take on both of them.
Unless you are break dancing...
They shot an innocent man who had a legal right to carry.
These bastards are MURDERERS and I don’t give one single damn about their contemptible orders. They do NOT have a right to kill every single person who legally carries.
THIS is why we have a Second Amendment in the first place and that’s so we can defend ourselves from our own government.
In a growing number of jurisdictions it is clearly necessary for law abiding citizens to arm themselves and defend against the criminal gang that hides behind a badge.
Note to self. If I drop my gun, DO NOT pick it up in front of cops.
Playing devil’s advocate here.
Did he know the cops were there? Did he disobey an order to not pick it up?
In his place, if you didn’t know, would you just leave it on the ground for someone else to pick it up and start shooting?
Or would you pick it up?
I'm a firearms enthusiast but I recognize that when guns are involved, serious accidents are possible. This situation sounds like a very unfortunate misunderstanding. I'm sure that the Navy veteran acted without thinking about the consequences of grabbing the weapon in an altercation. The police responded as trained to neutralize a perceived threat. I hope this doesn't come across as too calloused but an occasional accident like this is the cost of having an armed populace. The benefits of an armed populace outweigh the cost of the occasional, unfortunate accidents like this one.
Where is the video?
Especially when they are yelling to drop the weapon - which my understanding is what video captured happening.
Sad tragedy in a messed-up situation.
I think the proper term for a black man carrying a concealed weapon around police is “suicidal”.
Start with a college campus where many students go intent to become political activists over any priority of getting an education, and our current political tensions aided by a viral media, add some alcohol and you have the climate in Portland, not just the college campus there.
Why’s he throwing gang signs?
