Polls are irrelevant in a Constitutional Republic under a true Judiciary aware of its important unbiased role. Courts should be unencumbered by mob rule
Yep and Hillary is going to win by 20 points.........
Polls show that only ¡YEB! can beat Hillary and that Donald Trump will never be the Republican nominee.
Nor do they know who actually sits on the court. What MAYBE 5% can name them all.
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you....”
Thanks for the post despite the bad news.
I believe this one, if not the exact spread then a definite majority support abortion rights. Further I do not ever see this changing. What probably will happen eventually is a simple way to render people infertile and an equally simple way t reverse the infertility. It will be something ingested or injected one time to initiate infertility and again to reverse it.
When this happens we will still have R v W but we will be seeing few abortions.
As for the SC nominee, any one of them who has not gone on the record as willing to overturn RvW will pass as long as they declare it the law of the land and they as a SC member will always uphold the law as it is written.
What do supporters think RvW means?
Can the state stop me from doing abortions in my living room? I’d bet that I (not a doctor) can buy the tools on the internet and watch some videos then open a business.
Anyone who doesn’t think my living room abortion business should be allowed, doesn’t believe RvW provides for unrestricted abortions. But nobody talks about what RvW means, does or should do. Only about some idealistic fantasy around “choice” and access to reliable providers (not me in my living room) for those who choose. And without oversight/regulation from the state.
They should show them this picture and see if they still feel the same...
However....if it were overturned and a decade went by, Americans would never notice it was gone.
It's important to be aware of how the left is going to promote their 'narrative' and they're going to be citing this poll as proof the majority support abortion on demand and President Trump can't nominate anyone who will overthrow RvW.
I mean, if the prog-libs are looking for an issue to run on, I don't think it would get much better than this. Of course, since Trump and a significant % of his base are actually moderate democrats, it won't really serve to split away much support away from the party.
My guess is, the amendment language will be similar to the original opinion. However, rather than go looking for a right to privacy in the preamble, they can just spell it out explicitly. Even better, make it gender neutral, so that it incorporates the basic concept that it's "my body, my choice" with respect to any decision (yes/no) about any medical procedure.
But what really needs to happen is to erase the decades old process of one or more unelected magistrates maki decisions for 300+ million citizens. Let each state measure the support and govern accordingly.
They don’t understand a human being is a human being at EVERY stage of life.
And 99.9% surveyed never read the Supreme Courts decision in Roe v Wade. A full 100% do not know the definition of, prenumbra.
Penumbra
So, about 20% of those that believe that don't know those restrictions can only occur if Roe is struck down.
Polls consistently have shown that most only want abortion allowed in the case of rape, incest and the mother's life being endangered. In other words, most oppose abortion for convenience sake.
Popularity has zero, zip, nada to do with Constitutional legal reasoning. The idea that popularity should be considered in Supreme Court decisions ought to be considered treasonous, as it undermines the fact that the Constitution makes it clear that we the people, acting through the legislative processes are to be the authors of changes to the Constitution, not the courts.
After seeing that referendum sail through in Ireland I shudder to think how many people really think that baby killing is just hunky-dory.
This may not be a popular opinion around here, but I don’t mind keeping it legal.
But it should be stigmatized, not glorified as a right of passage the feminists treat it as.
If you receive an abortion, you should feel ashamed about it.
They should post the names of people who get them, the same way they names of people who are arrested are publicized.
This would lower the amount of abortions tremendously.
