Not everyone should go to college. There are people in the trades that make more than a lot of college grads
I totally agree with that, as long as it is a choice that the student wants. I hope this does not turn out to be something that is guided so much it doesn’t leave other options.
And nobody in government has any business detirmining who goes where.
I’ve been saying that since before Mike Rowe was a household name.
In 1st grade you were thoroughly evaluated and it was determined that with your strong back and limited interest in human potential that we’d funnel you into humping burger boxes up the stairs for the robot burger flippers. Robots that can negotiate stairs are expensive. The burger flippers are cheap.
Sorry, no opportunity for advancement or innovation, you’re just a humper. Til the day you die. Please note we’ve re-labeled you as MC-1984-999 for the convenience of the store to which you’ve been assigned.
Sorry to inform you that you’ve also been assigned to the non-procreation pool and since you cannot be assigned a child unit there is no necessity for a life-partner so accordingly your living-units are set to minimal needs for one. Please attend the next available neutering appointment in your area.
Your Humper bunk is pre-assigned at Unit 1283a-3. Don’t forget your chip implant upon arrival.
Have a nice life.

Sorry - couldn’t sleep ... going to try again. You’re right about trades but this sounds far more sinister than trade schools. ;-)
