Peter Strzok, the former FBI agent who vowed to "stop" President Trump from winning the 2016 election despite being part of a federal investigation into his campaign, may not show up to testify next week despite being subpoenaed.
"My client will testify soon, somewhere, sometime. We just got this subpoena today, so I don't know whether or not we are going to be testifying next Tuesday in front of these two particular House subcommittees," Aitan Goelman, Strzok's attorney, told CNN's Chris Cuomo.
Goelman said he could not automatically respond "yes" because the two "have come to the conclusion, forced to come to the conclusion, that this is not a search for truth, it is a chance for Republican members of the House to preen and posture before their most radical, conspiracy-minded constituents."
The House Judiciary and Oversight committees sent Strzok the request earlier Tuesday. Goelman initially said his client preferred a public hearing after portions of his first testimony, an 11-hour event held behind closed doors, were leaked by the Republican-controlled committee.
"From our experience with the committee thus far, it is obvious that they don't want the truth. They don't want to hear what Pete has to say, the lawyer added.
The second hearing was called so lawmakers could hear more about Strzoks experience working on the federal probe into Hillary Clintons private email server and relationship Trumps campaign had with Russia during the 2016 campaign.
A June report by the Department of Justice inspector general concluded that Strzoks text messages to his work colleague and mistress, Lisa Page, about preventing Trump winning the election did not affect the agency's ability to investigate Trump properly.
If a Federal employee is not prevented by his agency from testifying, don’t they HAVE to appear if subpoenaed?
Why not, they won’t do anything, and Sessions will take his side.
Well Eric Holder was found in Contempt of Congress, and he is still walking around out there as a very arrogant free man. So why should Strozk fear them?
Beat me to it.
The entire deep-state cabal was absolutely, utterly convinced that Hillary was going to win. The didn’t really think there was any chance she would lose, and their preparations for that eventuality were half-hearted and half-baked.

The permanent bureaucracy.
...??
SEND IN THE CAPITOL POLICE TO ARREST HIM!!
Trump should fire the Attorney General through the FBI director all the way down to he little faggot and keep firing people until everyone learns they ain’t the boss.
I know virtually nothing about law-—but I always figured that if you ignored a subpoena you would get arrested.
Guess I was wrong.
.
Why this attitude..?
Why not?
It worked for Lois Lerner JUST FINE..!
Why even pretend? The DOJ is accountable to no one and is allowed to destroy anyone in their path. Paul Manafort is in solitary confinement without a trial. They get to do that.
“They don’t want to hear what Pete has to say,
We’ve already head plenty of what Pete had to say in his texts to his girlfriend.
What I want to see how he looks in an orange jumpsuit.
yep
Only Democrats are allowed to be on-going criminals.
No. If YOU ignore a subpoena, you’ll get arrested. You’re not an operative of the Deep State.
I thought that failure to appear got a bench warrant for the arrest of said individual set to appear.
“I know virtually nothing about law-but I always figured that if you ignored a subpoena you would get arrested.
Guess I was wrong.”
Congress can arrest & Jail someone that disregards a subpoena. Hillary’s IT guy gave that the finger and didn’t bother to show,,,AND THE DID NOTHING.
Yep.

Congress has no police powers. If someone ignores their subpoena they are powerless. They have no enforcement powers.
