Dems on SCOTUS: Catholics Need Not Apply
American Thinker ^ | July 5, 2018 | Daniel John Sobieski

Catholics are the sole remaining religious group that it is politically correct to slander and denigrate and the consideration of nominees for the Supreme Court vacancy left by the retiring Anthony Kennedy has brought out the liberal anti-Catholic bigots en masse. Their target is Justice Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Just as John F. Kennedy was said by some to be a stalking horse for the Vatican who would clear each major decision with the Pope, Barrett a practicing Catholic who actually gets it right, has been charged with embracing Catholic dogma so tightly that there is no room left for the Constitution and those “emanations from a penumbra” that sanctified Roe V. Wade. Catholic League President Bill Donahue addressed the issue on “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox:

Senate Democrats grilled Barrett over how her Catholic faith would affect her views on court precedents concerning abortion cases during her confirmation process after Trump nominated her as a circuit judge in 2017.

Scalia. Thomas. Alito.

We need six more Justices who think along the same lines. (Gorsuch is already on The Court.)

“The other six seats are ALL Catholics. Catholics comprise 25% of the population today. That means that 27% of the population is represented by the entire court in a country where 74% of which is Protestant. There are NO Protestants, Evangelicals or any other religious group represented on the Court today!”

You don’t know what you are talking about.

Learn a little before you post.

Gorsuch is a Protestant.

Sotomayor is not a member of any faith.

The Wise Latina is a devoted follower of the Marxist death cult, same as The Dyke, The Fag, and The Zombie.

I thought discrimination is forbidden by liberal values. But prejudice seems to prevail in their ranks.

“Jews represent 2% of the population, and yet they hold three SCOTUS seats today. And they are all Secular Progressives. The other six seats are ALL Catholics. Catholics comprise 25% of the population today. That means that 27% of the population is represented by the entire court in a country where 74% of which is Protestant. There are NO Protestants, Evangelicals or any other religious group represented on the Court “

So what?

Maybe they are just catching up for the many years when the were ALL Protestants.

“Being an Episcopalian is almost like being a Catholic theologicallyDon’t be ridiculous.”

Is it not true that the Episcopal Church is the American equivalent of The Church of England, which has it’s origins in Catholicism, but somehow managed to pi$$ off King Henry VIII leading to a schism? That’s what you get when you look up the history. Sure, in modern times, there has been some divergence, but there are more similarities than there are differences from what I’ve read.

”Just to play devil’s advocate, for much of the time that the court was all Protestant, the country itself was overwhelmingly Protestant as well.”

While that is undoubtably true, IF this was a criteria for appointing Supreme Court justices, Catholics were a sizable enough minority that there should have been at least one Catholic on the court at all times.

All of that however is a moot point since the fact remains that there is NOT, nor should there be, a quota or a religious test for any position in the government. Article 6 of the Constitution guarantees that. A person should be selected solely on their character and their qualifications.

I think Neil Gorsuch is a Protestant.

Quite a few of the group under consideration happen to be Catholics - who are actually practicing their Christian faith. They are the old fashioned Catholics who believe in the Holy Trinity, God’s mercy and forgiveness, Jesus as Lord and Savior, etc.

Some Catholics/Christians are actually willing to state publicly their faith in Jesus Christ and his Gospel.

Yes. Gorsuch’s mother Anne McGill was Irish Catholic.
His father’s famiLy was always Episcopalian.

Kennedy had two appointees:

Byron White, Episcopalian...worked on the Kennedy campaign, and friend of the family, but drifted to the conservative wing of the court...or, if you wish, he stayed the same and the court drifted left.

Arthur Goldberg, Jewish...this was the “Jewish seat” - Cardozo, Frankfurter, Goldberg, and Fortas, with Methodist Harry Blackmun breaking the streak. Cardozo and Frankfurter served with the first Jew on the court, Louis Brandeis.

“Gorsuch has not publicly stated if he considers himself a Catholic who attends a Protestant church, or if he has fully converted to Protestantism, but “according to church records, the Gorsuches were members of Holy Comforter”, an Episcopal church.”

Thank for your reply re: Neil Gorsuch’s faith. My comment was not in any way to berate NG, as I think he is a fine man. It was more to answer one Freeper who said there were currently five SC justices who are Catholic. That was so before Anthony Kennedy’s retirement. Now it is four.

Some Freepers have said there are no Protestants on the SC currently. That is why I posted the comment.

I have a strong trust in PDJT’s wisdom in selecting a good justice and am eagerly awaiting the announcement on Monday.
