The Senate is an “unfair” body?

Well I guess it could be seen that way, if you have no respect for the separation of powers between the federal government and the sovereign states the nation is composed of and you believe those states themselves, as entities, should not have direct representation in the federal government - which is the original purpose of the Senate.

The utopian idea of a single unicameral “popularly” elected legislature has embded in it the worst fate of direct democracy that our founders sought to avoid - the tyranny of the majority.

Our government was composed to intentional thwart singular type of interests from having all the power, and instead aquiring different interests to be represented, and the different interests needing to make compromises to advance any change in government. Yes, they did not want change to be easy to come by, by a popular show of hands alone. (The utopian ideal of total direct democracy).

The author is either an uneducated idiot, or a subversive.

May I be so cruel to ask if this David Faris is Jewish. It is nowhere that I can easily find on the internet. He sure looks like a schmuck..... not a Jewish guy, merely a schmuck.

Democrats are despondent right now. Already in control of the White House and Congress, Republicans are poised to solidify their majority on the Supreme Court, and the Dems are powerless to prevent it.

Tom Jacobs left out that the GOP also controls the majority of State Houses, Governorships and every other elected position in the Country. Why did Tom Jacobs stop with 'President, House, Senate, and Supreme Court?

Doesn't Tom Jacobs know Americans have rejected deomcrats ON EVERY ELECTED LEVEL IN THE UNITED STATES?

Past failures aside, the immediate issue is the Supreme Court. Many on the left fear that if we end up with a Supreme Court dominated by conservative ideologues—and Neil Gorsuch seems to fall into that category—its rulings will defy the will of an increasingly socially liberal public.

There isn't any 'increasingly socially liberal public' - if there was they would have elected Hillary. Besides it's not our way to appoint liberal elites to notice that ' there's an 'increasingly' anything. We find out what's increasing or decreasing by a process known as 'the vote'....
