It just started raining again! Don’t know how long it will last, but let ‘er come!

Not much fun sitting outside when the seats/floor/etc are soggy. Best to wait till a better time.

I hope it is cooler tomorrow. It has to be a furnace in that upstairs room at the museum! Ugh!

Yay! I always enjoy the Astair/Rogers videos! They are truly classic!

Even with a recent musical like “La La Land,” we’ve lost a lot in 82 years. Ryan Gosling is no Fred Astaire.

Just looked at the radar and there’s a nice little batch of rain over your area. There’s a lot more NE of y’all that just might give you a good dose in a few hours.
It’s been a weird weather pattern the past few days with everything first moving due west and now NE to SW across a lot of the country. But as long as it’s giving us some rain, who cares? LOL

Yeah, table tops can be dried off but soggy seat cushions aren’t exactly a delight to sit on. Or sitting in the rain. So home, we stayed tonight.

It’s quite hot upstairs at the museum and there aren’t any outlets up there to plug my fan into. I wish I could get in there at night to do what I need to do up there. Just an hour or two is all I need. I’ll do what I can first thing in the morning and with luck, get it all done. Then clean more uniforms the rest of the time I’m there.

Good, but Sinatra was at his best with Nelson Riddle.

True. Neal Hefti and Billy May had their own ways of showcasing Sinatra’s voice, but Nelson Riddle had the chops to write arrangements that were definitive.

Not only can Jo Stafford sing, but she can do so unconventionally. Near the start of her career, she's singing solo on the following disc. No, the singers are not a bunch of hillbillies from some holler out in the Appalachians. The're from one of the hottest acts in the nation, and the composer is Cole Porter, one of the nation's top showmen.

One more before I head out. Just had to add a little more zydeco to the night's festivities. :-)

SWING TIME: “PICK YOURSELF UP”

The blind pianist George Shearing was a significant figure in Fifties and Sixties jazz. This is from 1965.

George Shearing: “Pick Yourself Up”

The fact that Nat Cole and George Shearing both recorded for Capitol made this an easy combo to arrange in 1962. Note how Nat just lays back and plays with it.

Nobody else is a Fred Astair! He might have been rather homely, but he sure made that up with his feet! And his “suave”!

Electric Light Orchestra - Livin' Thing

Perhaps this is a song about SALT II, which was running into trouble at the time.
