Trump is right yet again. We need skills based immigration.

If we can make it unlawful to give welfare to non-citizens, much of the illegal problem will self-deport.

Not only are they on welfare, a drag on taxpayers, but they are also working off-books. This is another impact to taxpayers as they are taking jobs at a fraction of what the going rate would be if there were no illegals.

If they claim it’s 76%, you can probably add 10-15% to that.

At the same time, there are a lot of American households with children that are also getting some form of government assistance

So?

There are a lot of Americans that commit crimes too.

That does not mean we should import more.

Why are illegals getting so much as a dime? They’re here ILLEGALLY.

For that matter, why are illegals here? They should all be on ICE buses back to where they came. Getting ICE to do their job is the biggest part of the problem.

It's more like over 200% because many illegal immigrants receive benefits under multiple false identities

I thought illegal aliens were not getting benefits. And legal immigrants should not be getting it, else if they are not sponsor or able to support themselves, they should be deported. Didn’t the law used to be that you had to have a sponsor and means to support yourself? Time to revive those rules.

About 51% of immigrant-led households receive at least one kind of welfare benefit, including Medicaid, food stamps, school lunches and housing assistance, compared to 30% for native-led households

30% of native-born households are on welfare?

The left keeps telling us illegal immigrants can't get welfare.

How then do they survive in a relatively high-cost-of-living country of a first-world economy?

Most are poor, poorly educated, without skills.

In theory (which should be in FACT) they can't work because you have to provide proof of citizenship when applying for a job.

How are they paying for their housing, food, transportation, utilities, health care, child care?

Agree with President Trump 100%: if you want to come into this country, prove you have and are willing to use proven job skills that this country needs. Then, maybe.

The USA is the greatest country in the world, a fact for which I give often thanks to the Good Lord.

I have no figures for this but I'll bet the USA is the most generous nation when it comes to legal immigrants. And that's okay as long as the benefits are not abused.

If a legal immigrant comes into this country and has marketable, needed skills, I have no objection to helping this person find housing, food, learn English, a job, etc. But this support needs to be limited in scope. Definite cutoff points have to be established and agreed to by everybody involved.

If worst comes to worst and the immigrant doesn't work out, they gotta leave. No fair staying here and sucking the benefits of the government teat.

Restating the obvious does nothing for freepers. It can sway a few independents, if they are half honest. Keep in mind the liberfarians once favored open borders, now they stay mum.

As for the families of the low-skilled working immigration population in the country, 51 percent (76 percent counting immigrant-led households with children) are collecting some sort of check from our welfare services. Is that good? No.

Leftards don't care. They believe in Keynesianism, which says that increases in government spending in peacetime, whether for public works or for social welfare is a source of prosperity.

But the economic consequences of Keynesianism is huge budget deficits, which requires more government borrowing, higher taxes, and creation of money out of thin air and inflation.

many are receiving approx $45,000 per year after all the government services are taken into account- do nothing and receive $45,000 worth of goods from the gubmint- no wonder they come here in droves-

A couple of studies done back in the early 2000’s showed that the US was spending between $400 BILLION DOLLARS and $600 BILLION DOLLARS per year on illegals- it’s likely even higher today- close to a trillion most likely- These figures took into account everything such as a criminal causing hte victim pain and suffering and medical expenses as well as lawyer costs, lost wages, having to replace stolen vehicles, stolen goods, etc- as well as the criminal costing the US money by getting ‘free lawyer’ to represent them, tying up our court systems, suing, being housed in prison at a rate of approx $145 per day, etc.

And the left witch about spending just $25 billion for a wall? It would save us between $375 BILLION DOLLARS and 1 TRILLION DOLLARS... PER YEAR

The states with the highest number of immigrants are California, New York, and New Jersey.

Those states are in an economic death spiral since they have to keep their state taxes high in order to take care of their growing multitudes of government-dependent non-taxpaying immigrants and their children.

As a result, many of the middle-class and wealthy citizens of those states move to lower-tax states, and it’s on and on for the high-immigrant states into bankruptcy.

Most people don't think illegals can get benefits.

It's not "cheap labor". It's tax-payer funded labor, and it is not cheap.

Odd how few facts we’ve had on ‘immigrants’ until recently. I guess it’s been one of the advantages democrats have - owning the boys in the press.
