WASHINGTON Democratic senators running for re-election in Trump Country face an agonizing choice over President Trumps coming Supreme Court nominee: Vote to confirm the pick and risk demoralizing Democratic voters ahead of the midterm elections, or stick with the party and possibly sacrifice their own seats and any chance at a Democratic majority in 2019.

We pay them about $170,000 a year to make tough choices, face political difficulty, weigh all the factors involved ,and then become a profile in courage.
So they have a tough vote to make. Go and do your job, Democrat senators running for re-election.
By the way, everything in the article is about how the Democrat senators will have to trade off between voting for Trump’s nominee in order to get re-elected in a Trump red state, or vote against the nominee to satisfy the rabid base.
Not a word about voting for or against the nominee, just based on their qualifications. Every thing is a game or a war with these people. Never about just doing the right thing.
I feel so bad for these Democratic about to be ex-Senators.
They will have to wade through job offers from major media outlets, universities, big corporations, large national charities, DC lobbying firms, DC contracting firms.....
Such a tough life!
Trump playing chess again
I wonder where the Constitution stands on a list of Democrat Sad Stories?
Apparently whats good for the country doesnt enter into their thinking.

But, but they may not have finished feathering their nests. The horror!
To the contrary, I think the red-state Dems have a very simple way to deal with this vote. If the republicans muster 50 votes for the SCOTUS nominee, then they vote for him/her. and ride the wave as a “moderate” If 2 or more R’s vote against and they can’t get to 50, the red-state Dem votes against and can blame the republicans for not being able to get to 50.
Sad, but simple.
Just confirms to me, that Democrats don't represent all Americans. Only interested in sucking the taxpayer's teat. Do what is right for all Americans, confirm President Trump's choice!
If Roe vs Wade is not overturned, then Congress MUST exercise their legislative powers and remove the issue from the federal courts. Ron Paul's 2005 Sanctity of Life Act does just that.
A red wave in the senate would guarantee whomever he nominates in third or fourth resignation/death would be an automatic “IN”
It would also signal conservative jurist to step aside for younger jurist therby guaranteeing the SCOTUS will stay conservative for decades
Truly a heart-wrenching situation...Maybe Kool-Aid is the best solution for them...
Yes, vote for sane judge who will uphold the Constitution OR, be voted out of office by normal sane voters. Terrible choice for hate america leftists like those at the slimes.
Our Senators will vote no. One, Shaheen the Abortion Queen is a guaranteed no vote and she is running for re-election, but the illegal alien Massholes will vote for her. The junior, Magdulah Hassan just justified not firing her intern who yelled an f-bomb at our President, because our President is a great, big meanie.
lol, those dem’s in red states are so out come Jan 2019.
There’s nothing they can do to save their job.
There is ZERO chance of a democrat majority in the senate in 2018.
There is also little chance that these red state D senators will win re-election even if they vote to confirm Trumps choice. If they dont vote to confirm there is ZERO chance they will get re-elected.
So just like with Gorsuch they will almost certainly vote to confirm because a slim chance to stay a senator is better than no chance to stay is Senator.
But if they vote to confirm, even with 50 gop votes, they need to worry about their demoralized dem base voters turning out. Rock and hard place.
