“For the Secret Service to get involved it must be something related.”

They may have been the ones who observed the vehicle driving the wrong way. In DC they function as regular cops on patrol, have jurisdiction over their own cases.

“In DC they function as regular cops on patrol”

years ago I read that in the DC area There was something like 21 law enforcement agencies and police forces that have jurisdiction and they are crossed jurisdictional. It’s hard to imagine that they have any problems here but he sees rife with lawlessness...

In DC they function as regular cops on patrol....

Years ago, I worked with a retired Secret Service officer. She was in the uniformed branch, and mainly patrolled the area around the White House and Capitol building. At one time, she was a guard on the White House entrances, but was reassigned after Clinton moved in. She said that all the female guards were removed from the White House, to protect them from Billy Jeff.
