On July 6, Gabby Giffords’ gun control group retweeted NPR criticism of the “good guy with a gun” scenario and described claims of armed citizens defending themselves as a “myth.”

The day poor Gabby eliminates guns from Americans will be the day the US Navy removes the guns from Navy Combat Ships one of which is the LCS USS Giffords.

Ah yes, good ol’ Captain Kelly, taking advantage and making a political prop out of his poor wife... [certain metaphor involving hands in places where the sun don’t shine]... again...
Her brain damage is obviously more severe than was ever reported. Her husband and various handlers should be charged with negligence of Gifford’s care.
If we look at the gun numbers on a daily average basis, we find that roughly, 93 gun deaths occur (2/3rds are suicides). By contrast, 6,800 violent crimes (rapes, assaults, car jacking, etc) are PREVENTED by the presence of a gun.
I am not willing to trade the health and welfare of 6,800 citizens to lower a dozen or so, gun deaths.
And once again, my FR friends and Patriots, here we have another case of total liberal insanity on full public display. Their mental disease rots out their pea brains to the point where they can no longer discern the difference between reality and fantasy. IE: good is bad, hot is cold, up is down, right is wrong, male is female, etc. etc.
These people need to be locked up in a padded cell before they hurt themselves or someone else. Nuttier than a fruit cake, they are.

The overwhelming majority of drivers and passengers will never be in a crash that requires seatbelts. Most people will go through their entire life without being in a serious car crash. So by the Giffords/NPR way of thinking, having seatbelts in your car and wearing them is a waste of time and money. And by the Giffords/NPR logic, so is putting your kids in a car seat.
Similarly, there is no point in having fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, or fire escapes in houses, hotels, schools or apartment buildings. Statistically speaking your chance of being killed in a fire is quite low. Not many people actually ever use a fire extinguisher, or an emergency fire escape. Nor does their smoke detector ever go off, except perhaps in the kitchen when it is a false alarm.
And that is why many people believe liberalism is a mental illness. Anybody who thinks about, and prepares for risks realizes that owning a firearm for self defense is like wearing seat belts, or having a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, and emergency fire escapes in your house.
You probably won't even need any of them, but if you do you don't have time to go get one.

Of course anyone with a common sense has preventive measures in place for risks of fire or criminal activity, and keeps themselves and their family prepared for either.
