A trio of red-state Democratic senators have turned down invitations to attend President Trump's announcement of his nominee to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.
Democratic Sens. Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) were invited but declined to attend the event at the White House at 9 p.m. Monday.
Donnelly said in a statement that he declined so that his first meeting with Trump's pick will be "in a setting where we can discuss his or her experience and perspectives."
"I appreciate the President inviting me to attend tonight's announcement at the WH. I look forward to meeting the nominee in a setting where we can discuss his or her experience, judicial philosophy & perspective on access to healthcare for WVians with pre-existing conditions," Manchin said in a separate tweet.

Help me out here. I’m tearing out my hair trying to find reference to this in the Constitution.

I don’t agree. I think they’re trying to walk a political wire.

I almost wish Trump would nominate his second choice (whoever that is). The eneMedia and Dems are going to go full Bork on that person - to the point where (with "moderate" GOP help) they will probably defeat the nomination. That will include most of the 10 Dem Senators running for re-election in Red States. That would then give ammunition to help defeat them - after which Trump can nominate his first choice and get that person confirmed.
Or am I overthinking this?

You should read the Constitution. The right to healthcare is on the same page that says abortion is a right.

“Im tearing out my hair trying to find reference to this in the Constitution.”
It’s in between the ‘Separation of Church and State’ clause and the ‘Midnight basketball’ clause.
You must need a new copy of the living, breathing document.

These are not humans. These mentally ill non reasoning amebas deserve no recognition. They are not contributing to society in any meaningful way. They purposefully act against for chaos sake.

Donnelly and Heitkamp are toast this year.
The GOP will flip those two seats.

Or am I overthinking this?If #2 becomes the sacrificial lamb this time around, he or she will never again be a viable choice.

I suspect the dems are going to have a tougher time halting whoever Trump nominates after the election than they will now which, in fact, makes me a bit suspicious of McTurtle’s motives since he can probably figure that out, too.

That struck me too. Why are they wanting to know someone’s position on specific policy issues? Are we saying there is a constitutional right to coverage of a pre existing condition? What the heck?
To: yesthatjallen
Most excellent, dude! Shows them for who/what they really are.

According to Rush there are 10 Democrat Senators who are in “red states” and will be considering their futures when they vote for the new Justice.
