Limitations on the distribution of sidearms in the general population is being approached entirely the wrong way. Rather than prohibit various sidearms or modifications to those sidearms, better to educate the ENTIRE population in the care, feeding, grooming, and proper methods of use of sidearms, as part of the same curriculum that instructs the youth in reading, writing and arithmetic, as a basic skill that should be known to EVERYBODY. This does a couple of things, as it weeds out, at a very early stage, those who by disposition are so deathly afraid of all things related to firearms, to calm their fears and redirect them appropriately, or to discover the twisted personalities who should in no circumstances EVER be allowed near weaponry of any kind.
A secondary, and perhaps vastly more important aspect, would be to create a large number of knowledgeable young folks completely familiar with firearms, and in that way, both capable of self-defense, and for careers in law enforcement and military. Couple this with nationwide concealed carry, and the criminal element would be a whole lot more cautious before they consider making an assault on a citizen.
Works for the country of Switzerland. Maybe the Swiss do not have concealed carry, but every domicile of any Swiss citizen is required to have a firearm in working order and a person in the household who knows how to use it.

That Giffords is opposed is pretty much a guarantee that he is a great choice.

Now, to recap.. the left would have us with no guns, no rights, gov deciding who gets healthcare, who lives and who dies, who rules and who are peons, taking all the money/income to pay for the communal lifestyle they chose for us...sounds like socialism at its worst.

Gabby, if such regulations are broadly applied to the citizenry, then BS.
Likewise if regulations are applied to guns. Guns are inanimate tools incapable of exercising violence.
If the target actually is "gun violence", then regulate the user who has demonstrated violence towards others via the use of a gun; and, in light of the 2ndA which limits your authority, recognize that you must leave the rest of us alone in this regard.
Most of these comments attributed to most of these people are being churned out as scripted, coordinated talking points from a war room of rinos, former Obama officials, and ultra left paid actors from grant funded radical groups.
Gabby, when's the last time we heard you demanding "reasonable regulations" on abortion providers?
