Big Blue Bellyflop: Polls Show Democrats Losing Bid to Capture U.S. Senate

The latest batch of Axios/Survey Monkey polls shows that Democrats are in real danger of losing three U.S. Senate seats, which means they have no chance of capturing that chamber in 2018. In order to take control of the Senate, Democrats must hold on to all 10 seats currently up for grabs in states President Trump won in 2016. On top of that, they must snatch two seats from incumbent Republicans.

According to these polls, Democrat incumbents in Florida, North Dakota, and Indiana are losing to their Republican challengers by three, five, and two points, respectively.

Another endangered Democrat incumbent, the increasingly embattled Claire McCaskill, is only ahead by two points in Missouri.

The Senate was NEVER in play. The only question regarding the Senate this fall has been how many seats will the republicans gain.

Anyone with the most rudimentary understanding of US politics can look at the 2018 Senate map and tell you that.

No matter how well the Dems do, they Senate was NEVER in play for them
.
Anyone who told you it was is a bald face liar, or is so ignorant they should repeat elementary school.

Democrat hopes of taking the Senate were always a pipe-dream to begin with. Republicans may add a seat or two to their majority but they aren’t going to lose control.

They are trying their best to lose both Chambers. It is the establishment goal.

The Senate is the focus because of the supreme Court projected vacancies and impeachment conviction.

I’m not saying it to be negative; I’m just bringing up the point that Arizona is one to watch, that’s all.

The GOP Senate “victory” Game has not surfaced yet in the intensity that will be forthcoming in the next few months. POTUS, Trump will lead the Massive rallies & the GOP, “GOTV” will turn out voters by the millions.

Stay tuned....Trump & The GOP will pickup six to twelve Senate seats come this November, Mid-Term election. Trump will undertake the total political destruction of the entire Democrat Party this election cycle.

And...if the American people want this nation republic & its freedoms to survive, they best vote to politically destroy every Democrat running for election or, re-election. A vote cast for any Democrat is a vote cast to destroy the United States of America. Wake up, Americans, your choice in November is live free or die!!!

Vote Democrat and you die, Vote Trump & Republican, and you live free, with you being the master of your own destiny...not some “Big Brother” socialist, communist, dictator.

If nothing else, Blackburn should become a beneficiary of the general trend. Likewise Arizona should be safe. As some of the commenters here would suggest, I think the article understated the case. I’ll go +4 for my prediction at this point.

“Negativity and a defeatist attitude has never won an election. “

There’s way too much negativity here. Enough with the negative waves!
There are something on the order of 26 or 27 RAT Senators up for re-election and only eight Pubbies.
Of the eight, Hatch’s seat will go to Romney (yick) but it won’t go to a RAT
Fischer, Wicker, Barrasso, and Cruze won’t have any trouble
That leaves Corker, Heller and Flake

On the RAT side, I see at least ten that are vulnerable, so I am not sure why all the consternation about the Senate, with these odds.

“Sheriff Joe is revealing himself as a corrupt, dishonest, egotistical tool of the GOP-E.”

Let’s wait until the primary is a bit closer before making such accusations (it’s over 1.5 months away).

Right now, Sheriff Joe is helping beat McSally down on the campaign trail. That’s a good thing. Yes, he is taking votes from Ward, but that’s almost irrelevant right now. He’s building a following.

If he drops out about 4 weeks before the primary and throws all of his support to Ward, McSally is done for ... by that time, he will have certainly locked up a solid percentage of voters that will crawl over broken glass to support/vote for Ward after his endorsement.

Remember, there are certain perks when you’re a candidate ... being a candidate entitles him to lots of facetime he wouldn’t get otherwise. Ward and Arpaio have very similar views, so it’s not a stretch to think that they’re somewhat working together.

Of course, if you’re right, then f-him :-) ... however, I can’t see this situation not being more of a strategic play to keep a GOPe candidate out of the Senate. Trump pardoned the guy for heaven’s sake and Arpaio has to know what we are up against! The Republican that wins this race will have an easier time winning the general election (I didn’t say *easy* ... *easier*) ... the harder part is fighting the GOPe ... it seems that if one thinks outside the box, you can confuse the hell out of the GOPe and win :-).

“Dems could still win the Senate and House if they just act somewhat sane for four months”

To act sane they’d have to support Trump’s policies. Not gonna happen with those folks...

Anyone have analysis of house races to compliment the Senate information?

Yes, and by a wider margin of victory than is being predicted. That would be so fun!

We need both Michigan and Wisconsin in the red column.

Getting rid of the corruption.
