Rosenstein Asks Prosecutors to Help With Kavanaugh Papers in Unusual Request
The New York Times ^ | July 11, 2018 | Katie Benner

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday.

Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide.

But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each office to provide up to three federal prosecutors “who can make this important project a priority for the next several weeks.” Names were to be submitted to Mr. Rosenstein’s office by the end of Wednesday.

I disagree. The article also talks about the amount of requests for docs from Sotomeyer, Garland and Kagan as well.

"While federal prosecutors have not been tapped to help with recent nominations, including Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, “the scope of the production of executive branch documents we’ve been asked for is many, many times as large,” said Sarah Isgur Flores, a Justice Department spokeswoman."

You also have to keep in mind Democrats have already said they were going to try to stall the nomination by asking for millions of documents.

This is an outright coup attempt.

He thinks he is running the country.

He and Sessions go NOW, and a special prosecutor hired right after NOW to run this SOB to ground.

Also, read last paragraph. “The production of documents could slow down a confirmation hearing.....Democratic lawmakers say they want to inspect all of Judge Kavanaugh’s documents, including his staff work and over 300 opinions he has issued as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.”

Anti-Trump, swamp Congress is alive and kicking imo.

I surmise that Congress encourages people like Rosenstein to obstruct Trump’s presidential duties, nominating Supreme Court justices in this example, regardless that Rosenstein was on congressional hot seat a week or two ago for an election year dog-and-pony show.

Remember in November!

Gads, even the NYT thinks it’s an “unusual insertion of politics into law enforcement.”

Yeah, but they're trying to decide whether this action is that of Rosenstein, the white-hatted weasel, trying to expedite Trump's pick, or Rosenstein, the sneaky Hillary-sympathetic never-Trumper, trying to torpedo Kavanaugh to their benefit.

So are we.

Maybe Q can comment?

Rosenstein has crossed the line. Actually he keeps crossing the lines.

He's opened a fishing expedition into Brett Kavanaugh? On whose orders? Who pays for this? Doesn't anyone in the Trump administration realize that Mueller and Rosenstein are out of control?

Rosenstein and Mueller think they are the government.

It is up to McConnell as the Senate Leader to set the time allowed for debate, questioning of the nominee, etc..

There are about 3 weeks of July and all of August and September and maybe 2” weeks of October to get this done. If McConnell is inclined he can simply tell the Dems the final vote is October 15 and they should make the most of the time leading up to that day in order to question Kavanaugh and read his cade history.

Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement.

Not since Ronsestein overthrew Jeff Sessions and took over DOJ it isn't.

“Rosenstein and Mueller think they are the government.”

Rabid lefties are in firm control of our 4 trillion dollar stasi state. Rosenstein and Mueller have the backing of both parties, the fakestream media, the corrupt courts and ‘our’ administrative state.

The reason why we are seeing this in-your-face treason and lawlessness.

Keep a very close eye on this rat

I bet he knows he's history at the soonest possible moment once the investigation is done. Same with Wray. These smarmy rats deserve prison time but they will likely escape with a nice government pension. Not right.

After reading the full article, it looks like Trump might have ordered this - He is getting the DOJ ready to submit any docs the Democrats request in a quick manner, so they can get this through the Senate quickly.

You may be right. Number one, this isn't an unusual occurrence for Supreme Court nominees, per the story.......but the NY SLIMES are hinting that it might be scandalous because of the hierarchy of people Rosenstein contacted.

Since I know the Slimes does nothing but promote anti-American, anti-conservative and anti-Trump propaganda........I'll wait and see what President Trump's response is. If there's something stinky, he will definitely talk about it.
