Taking Europeans into slavery lasted well into the 19th Century if you include the Barbary pirates.

Many Americans were taken as slaves from ships in the Mediterranean.

The slave raiding for Europeans did not end until France conquered Algeria about 1850.

No.

No ex post facto laws.

All the people directly involved are long dead.

We took the least slaves, and are the only nation to be pestered about it day after day.

No other nation deals with this to my knowledge.

Then there’s the fact that there is still slavery in Africa today, but you never hear a single soul talk about putting and end to it.

The Left in the U. S. has brought this on us.

The Left has been increasing race animosity and they began to maximize doing so just when most of the country was moving away from it - in the 50s. Through the Left the taint of segregation was laid on the head of the nation, though most of the nation was not conducting segregation nor had segregationist laws. Why did the Left do that? They did that just as they do everything today. There way of building must always divide up and tear down everything before and until the Left has total control, so the people are socially in ashes and they can build on the ashes.

“A man I have known since grade school changed his name, years ago, to an Arabic one. He told me he rejected Christianity as “the white man’s religion that justified slavery.”

LOL! What a fool! The Arabic world is still engaged in slavery.

Not just France and Russia. This from "The Sack of Baltimore" by Edmund Clarence Stedman, a poem about the 1631 raid by Algerian pirates that saw between 100 and 237 people taken as slaves from Baltimore in County Cork, Ireland:

From out their beds and to their doors rush maid and sire and dame,
And meet upon the threshold stone the gleaming sabre’s fall,
And o’er each black and bearded face the white or crimson shawl.
The yell of “Allah!” breaks above the prayer, and shriek, and roar:
O blessed God! the Algerine is lord of Baltimore!

Perhaps those slave descendants with a grievance could be placed back in Africa in the same circumstance as their ancestors before they were brought to America as slaves. In that way, the descendants could be made whole.

Had their kin folk not been brought here, how many of those kin folk would have survived the tribal warfare and been around to procreate anyway?

No problem. Sadly, it won’t be widely distributed and if it is, it’ll be cast of as a pack of gopE lies trying to trick AAs.

I seem to recall an article or post a while back counting the numbers that came to the states and the numbers that went to central and south America and the Caribbean islands. We got the least as I recall. Correct as needed.

It was the Republicans that were giving them 40 acres and a mule. The dems shut that down. So I think the dems are the ones that owe them.

You nailed it. I sent it to my sister who teaches at an AA school. She says she would probably get fired for bringing up facts like these.

I didn’t find out until three years ago our Native Americans were often targeted by Europeans for the slave trade.

Yes they were. But they made lousy slaves. First of all, they knew the land much better than the colonists and were very likely to run away—and had people to run away to. And secondly, Indians had been cut off from the rest of humanity and its diseases for 10s of thousands of years and were thus very vulnerable to diseases like small pox and measles.

Africans had neither of these ‘faults’. Running away back to Africa was impossible. Blending in was impossible because of skin color, and the Indians were happy to enslave them if they did get away.

I think he was, but part of the story this teacher was reading detailed how Europeans came and took him back to Europe as a slave. I really wish I had a copy of the book in front of me because it’s been a while since I heard it being read :0(

Yes it’s really odd that a lot of “conscious” blacks seem to revere Arabs and hate whitey, when the Arabs enslaved far more and freed none.

Saw a figure once that pegged the U. S. total slave importation at less than 5% of the global total.

We get the 95% blame, for 5% of the reality.
