Feud erupts between Dem socialist Ocasio-Cortez and defeated Rep. Joe Crowley

So much for Democrats coming together in New York’s 14th congressional district.

A feud erupted Thursday on Twitter between Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and outgoing Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley -- the longtime congressman Ocasio-Cortez shockingly defeated in New York’s primaries last month. The victor claimed the incumbent is now mounting a third-party bid.

“.@repjoecrowley stated on live TV that he would absolutely support my candidacy,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Thursday. “Instead, he’s stood me up for all 3 scheduled concession calls.”

The 28-year-old progressive Democrat added: “Now, he’s mounting a 3rd party challenge against me and the Democratic Party- and against the will of @NYWFP.”

Great meme. But you need to see how to resize images so they automatically span the page, not “fixed.” Only about 1/3 of the image is owing to show on most screen.

“As I have often said, Trump was, in effect, elected by Democrats. If Trump’s numbers had been made up only of Republican voters, he would have been crushed.”

You’re right, and the Dem leadership took note. They’ve been running “Operation anti-Trump 24/7/365” since even prior to the 2016 election, and now they’ve doubled down on the “fake news” BS. Just saw news yesterday the “Emmet Till” case was being re-opened; this sad story from decades ago in a southern state is just being re-hashed to get those blacks back into line. They could’ve delivered PA, MI, and WI to Hillary - and they didn’t.

I don’t understand why he’s on the ballot for a different party.

He's a sore loser swamp creature who think he owns that seat.

I live in NYC and candidates are often listed on multiple parties on the ballot. You’ll often see the Republican also listed as the Constitution party candidate and the Democrat listed as the Green party and Working Families party candidate for example.

Here’s what it says in Wikipedia:

Like other minor parties in New York, the Independence Party sometimes nominates its own candidates and sometimes endorses one of the major party candidates using electoral fusion. The listing of a major-party candidate on the Independence line can be seen as an indication of that candidate’s friendliness to centrist views.

Electoral fusion is an arrangement where two or more political parties on a ballot list the same candidate, pooling the votes for that candidate.

Crowley may win if he actually tries. He only lost to her because of the abysmal turnout, he’d never have lost that primary with a general election turnout. She got all of 16,000 votes.

The shifting demographics of that district actually work against Crowley. Yes, it was low turnout, don't think he'd have won with a higher turnout, however.

Doesn't really matter at this point. What's done is done. The only question now is: will Crowley be the candidate of the NYWFP and will he pull enough away from the self-avowed Democrat Socialist to cost her the race?

If anything this one should be fun to watch.

I’ve lived in that neighborhood for over 20 years. Most people on Community FB Boards are now Pro Trump. Don’t know what that will transfer to. Though there are a lot of latinos that have moved into the neighborhood with real nasty attitudes.

Thanks for your post, since you're in that neighborhood you'll undoubtedly speak better to the following question than anything I can find online to read:

What I've been reading is that the demographics of that neighborhood have swung largely latino and there's just no way Crowley could've survived the primary even if the turnout was much larger.

True or not?

Every GOPer in the district must vote for Crowley on the WFP line. If she is defeated it will tear the Dem party apart.

The 28-year-old progressive Democrat added: “Now, he’s mounting a 3rd party challenge against me and the Democratic Party- and against the will of @NYWFP.”

I guess that we will find out whether the 28-year-old progressive Democrat was nothing more than a "flash in the pan."

“Crowley may win if he actually tries...He only lost to her because of the abysmal turnout”

I wouldn’t put money on that, not in that district, given its demographics.

Things are different now, it’s a new world out there for Leftists, with her being the poster-boy of the party.

The GOP “Candidate” is Anthony Pappas an Economics Prof at St. John’s. He has no campaign at all. No office, no staff, no website, no budget. Candidate in name only.

So, Crowley got caught napping.

Why would this chick expect him to just roll over for her?

I would think that he’ll mount his third party/independent bid and spank her but good in the general election.

He was next in line, behind Pelosi and Hoyer. If she thinks she is going to step into that spot she is sadly mistaken.

Mr. Crowley should write an appendix to be included in new printings of Hillary’s What Happened.

Crowley couldn’t win in the primary with ten times as much money. Now Ocasio-Cortez has generated a lot of excitement and national attention. Crowley is not going to come back any more than Eric Cantor did.
