President Trump made some major missteps when meeting the queen

President Trump met with the queen of England today and committed several protocol gaffes that left many feeling that his behavior was an insult to Britain and lacked the respect that should be shown the monarch — and if not a monarch, a 92-year-old woman.

The president was soundly condemned on social media for walking in front of Queen Elizabeth as they inspected a guard of honor of the Coldstream Guards. The queen was forced to bob and weave as she caught up to walk alongside him.

Trump did appear to notice, and in the video below you’ll see that as she catches up with him, she gives the tiniest gesture with her hand, signaling to him to continue walking.

Earlier, the president and first lady Melania Trump defied protocol when they greeted the queen: They did not bow or curtsy, but instead opted to simply shake hands. It is not obligatory to bow, as Americans are not her subjects, but doing so is widely considered good manners.

The President of the United States did not make missteps with the Queen.

The Queen made missteps with President Trump.

They are going to criticize him no matter what so no surprise here.

It sounded like a nice meeting that was enjoyed by everyone except the Uber-etiquette crowd. Miserable people - truth be told.

Shame upon any American citizen who bows or curtsies before any monarch. Elizabeth Windsor is a head of state by accident of birth, and nothing more. Americans are free men, and the equal of all other men. Good on you, Mr. President!

It is my understanding that the acceptable norm in international protocol is that heads of state do not bow - regardless of Obama.

As a short person, it’s difficult to keep pace with somebody as tall as Donald Trump. If you haven’t gotten into a rhythm with that person over time, a little bobbing and weaving is normal. President Trump strides with purpose. I would have to break into a dead run to keep up with him.

As to bowing, there is no obligation to do that. We are not subjects of the Great Britain.

And this affects her how? She’s still the Queen. She’d best be more concerned about the Muslims she let infiltrate her country. They want the Royal family dead and the flag of Islam replacing the Union Jack. If she is wise she will advise William and Harry to move elsewhere when Chuckles becomes King lest all their heads end up on the Castle gates.

That is correct. Heads of State do not bow to other heads of state....to do so indicates subservience.

Odumbo seemed to bow to every monarch during his first apology world tour. Was he demonstrating his ignorance of protocol, or indicating what he thought Americas' place in the world should be?

I read the same thing on more than one occasion before the visit. This is a bunch of yahoos at Yahoo trying to scramble together another "Trump did something wrong" article and failing miserably.

This really is fake news.

Trump did appear to notice

I like the queen, I think she is a classy lady. But we fought a Revolutionary War so that we don't have to kiss her @ss.

I don't ever want to see an American president bow to someone ever again the way Obama bowed to Saudi Arabia, Japan, and China.
