The electoral college is now more important than it ever was.

So, if the Dems manage to do away with the Electoral College, then no need to spend money electioneering in any state but these, as these will be the tail that wags the USA dog.

that is one telling map.

The interesting question is why do democrats tolerate murder when they are the ones most murdered. Why do democrats most support gun control and no capital punishment when they are the ones most murdered. This is a mystery. Or a pathology.

They project NC pulling ahead of GA in population. GA is currently larger due to the Atlanta boom, rest of state not quite as booming other than maybe some coastal due to retirees. NC has four areas pretty much a boom particularly RTP Raleigh/Durham and Asheville. Charlotte and coastal Wilmington doing pretty well too. Rest of state stable if urban/suburban, declining if purely rural.

Eliminating the EC requires amending the Constitution. Will never see the light of day.

From the comments:

Nothing has really changed, during the first Census, 20% of the entire population of the Country was in a single state - Virginia. The 5 most populous States (of 16 in first Census) accounted for 60% of the population - so, even when the country was formed, 70% of the Senate was chosen by States with 40% of the population.

And this:

So you don't have to look 20 years in the future to find that; it's been this way since the beginning. In 1790, the first U.S. census showed 44% of the population in just three states (Va., Pa., and Mass.).

And this:

The less populous states are split pretty evenly between red and blue. They include states like Connecticut, Oregon, Hawaii, Maryland, etc.
