Dem Campaign Manager Leaves Race in Wake of Free Beacon Exposé [2nd Amendment Voters in New York!]
The Washington Free Beacon ^ | July 17, 2018 | Stephen Gutowski

The campaign manager for Democrat Tedra Cobb, who is running to unseat Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.), left the campaign on Tuesday in the wake of a video where Cobb says she won't publicly state what she actually believes about banning certain guns.

Mike Szustak, who has been running Cobb's campaign since April, told the Watertown Daily Times that he was no longer working on the campaign. It is not clear if he quit or if he was fired.

The move comes in the aftermath of a Washington Free Beacon report on a video showing Cobb telling a group of teen supporters that she could not publicly state her desire for a ban on certain rifles for fear that her view is unpopular and could cost her the election.

"When I was at this thing today, it was the first table I was at, a woman said, ‘How do you feel about assault rifles?' And I said they should be banned," Cobb said in the video. "And I said, you know, people were getting up to go, to go get their lunch because it was a buffet, and I just said to her, I want you to know Cindy, I cannot say that."

Cobb's campaign website includes a page detailing her support for various gun-control measures but does not include any provision advocating for the ban of any firearms. Cobb went on to say that she had been advised by representatives of the gun-control group Moms Demand Action not to advocate for gun bans.

"And she said, ‘Well, I want you to' and I said, ‘I won't win,'" Cobb said. "I said Moms Demand [Action] says, and Tricia Pleau said, ‘Do not say that you want an assault rifle ban because you will not win.'"

Tricia Pleau is a member of the New York chapter of the group.

Leonardo Alcivar, Rep. Stefanik's campaign manager, claimed that the emergence of the video caused Szustak to create a public scene on an Amtrak train. In a tweet with the hashtag #EpicAcelaMeltdown, Alcivar said Szustak was screaming about the video for an hour and a half.

"Tell your #NY21 operatives to not have public meltdowns screaming their heads off in Acela Cafe Car," Alcivar tweeted. "@TedraCobb’s campaign manager in shorts & flip-flops drinking a beer & melting down screaming for 90-mins in full damage control!"

Szustak told the Daily Times that he did ride Acela but did not have a "meltdown" as Alcivar described. "Lenny is a liar," he told the paper.

Neither the Cobb campaign nor Szustak responded to requests for comment.

You have to be a pathological double-talker like Hussein and Bill Clinton to get ahead in the 'Rat Party.

Now they have to fumble around for a new candidate, while the Republican skates to victory. Did the Russians do this, too?

For starters, we should require politicians to call these firearms “semi-automatic rifles.”

Watertown NY? They got wolverines running around the woods. Its gun country, all the way from .177 to 8”. Oh yeah, she’d be a real winner up there, not. Watertown NY, “The town of the Future”. Gotta see how the MSM reports this one. Calling MSM damage control.

We need to educate the public about what they are up to yet the NRA and pro gunners keep up the losing tactics. We need to expose how crazily armed the police and the federal agents truly are.

The public has no clue the police in almost every city have full auto military weapons. They have .50 cal rifles. They have short barrel shotguns, suppressors and flash bang grenades. They dress in full military gear with body armor and military helmets. They train in military tactics and we wonder why the police are shooting people and acting like an occupying force every time there is any excuse to do so. Why? The left cries assault rifles are only good for killing as many people as possible. Well when do we need or want the police to do that? What law enforcement function is met by an M4A1 full auto military carbine?

The public needs to know they are being lied to about guns. The left wants gun control but only for you, not for government. That's so they can shoot you and you can't shoot back. Quit sugar coating what is going on.

It was non-dramatic, but this questioning in this video occurred a bit over a year ago, IIRC.

In her questioning, she established that the FBI had a “practice” of notifying Congress of ongoing investigations on a quarterly basis; and that Comey had said that in his kind of boy scout fashion. So, here they are spring 2017 and the FBI investigation which had been going on for basically nine months, there had been no Cong notification. It was really one of the very first times Comey was caught in a lie (or at minimum a piece of serious awkwardness) which of course resulted in utterly nothing. It also showed Comey’s particular style of letting the classified nature of certain things cover up or justify lies on a more general, non-classified level. Hers was the first or among the first times when the questioning got much better than the Darrell Issa disconnected lack-of-attention-span goofball mode of asking “So you DID like turnips?” “Well, then where were you last Thursday”?

"Agree with others, this “Moms Demand Action” front group is a NATIONAL GROUP, and she NAMED THEM.

Think about that, this a national group, ‘advising’ Democrats THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY to lie, or at least hide, their plans for GUN CONTROL.

Since they are a NATIONAL GROUP, then it’s time to let their little games be know nationally, and use it against so-called ‘gun-friendly’ Democrats EVERYWHERE. The Dems know they can never take back the House if they’re HONEST about guns, let’s make them ‘honest’.
"

BobL, that's exactly why I posted the article and was hoping FReepers would see what you just expressed. It's one issue that we should be using to win elections in nearly every locale of the U.S.A. Most Republican voters and a sizable portion of Democrat voters value our Second Amendment and their right to be armed.

That process is well underway and the dynamics are explained in “The Bell Curve.” And there is nothing that can be done to stop the process as far as I can see.

Idiocracy, indeed.

Firefight with gangsters who are using the same?

Ya except that’s pure fantasy. Criminals don’t have military weapons. Full auto weopons used in crime are extremely rare. So rare as to not be a factor. Yet even if there were crimes with full auto law enforcement would never be an appropriate use.

“Ya except that’s pure fantasy. Criminals don’t have military weapons.”

Cartels and powerful gangs do.

“Yet even if there were crimes with full auto law enforcement would never be an appropriate use.”

So, if gangsters are armed with AKs, you’re going to send cops out to face them with .38 specials?

The police should never have military weapons, equipment or training. That stuff is for the military. A standing army is utterly unconstitutional. The police are peace officers that should dress only in blue and possess only civilian weapons. There is no police function that cannot be done using a service sidearm, a Ruger mini 14 and a 12 gauge shotgun.

I'm tired of seeing any excuse for bringing out dozens of police armed with military weapons that are clearly trying to impersonate delta force operatives. That is a standing army, they are behaving that way and it's a clear violation of our Constitution. The United States is not a police state. Our communities and neighborhoods are not battlefields.
