The latest independent polls done last month in the Republican race for Florida governor had Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam with a comfortable lead over U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis.
But now, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Times, theres a growing feeling that DeSantis is gaining fast on Putnam.
If so, the move would be reminiscent of Rick Scotts overtaking of Bill McCollum in 2010. Like Putnam this year, McCollum was the establishment GOP candidate, only to have Scott soar past him for the nomination.
This year, though, the biggest factor in the DeSantis surge seems to be the President Donald Trumps endorsement of him over Putnam.
Putnam is counterattacking by saying that he, too, supports Trumps policies. But its not yet clear if that will work with Republican voters in the Aug. 28 primary.

Did I just age myself thinking that a certain industry needs cheap labor when so much is automated now? LOL.
Mark Levin Endorses Ron DeSantis for Governor of Florida

“Couple that with Grady Judds commercials saying Putnam supports deporting illegals IF they have committed a crime - Im out.”
I’ve always thought he was just another “TRUST FUND BABY” in he Kennedy/Bush tradition......
“””Did I just age myself thinking that a certain industry needs cheap labor when so much is automated now? LOL.”””
And at my age I am using the ‘senior citizen age card’ to assume the sugar cane production is mechanized. While I have driven many times on US 27 through the sugar cane fields of South Florida, I have not taken the time to ask questions about the production process.
WOW! Well, after he is defeated, he can always be a stunt double for Carmax commercials!
“Is Ron DeSantis surging over Adam Putnam?”
I certainly hope so! I’ve lost all confidence in Mr. Putnam.
“DeSantis will beat Putnam and crush the Democrat in the general.”
I pray you’re right!
I am not a big Levin fan but I will take his word for this. Thanks.
I hate to say this, but I based my opinion on an old CSI Miami episode where there were illegals working for a sugar plantation. Not the best source of information, LOL.
P.S. I overuse my SCA card, often. :-)
Same for Matt Gaetz. Quick to jump in front of a camera and try to attach himself to Trump but establishment and libertarian at best. Pushing for legalization of marijuana (not just medical) and gets big donations from lobby, drank the climate change cool aide, opposed anti human trafficking legislation, in favor of increase in H2C workers, weak on 2nd amendment. Ill go for Cris Dosev.
Oh, interesting. Lou Dobbs has him on his show very often and I have been mildly impressed. I can not vote for him so I will just say good on you for really investigating his credentials.
:-)
His radio ads are all about opposing illegals and supporting President Trump. Not buying it.
Ron Desantis is is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the reserve component of the United States Navy. He is a Judge Advocate General Corps officer (lawyer) with a fine pedigree - Yale undergrad, Harvard Law.
HST, his Navy career has been interesting - what does a JAG Officer advise SEALS about?
BTW, I’m not being critical of your comments - I’m voting for him - we just need to be sure our facts are straight.
Anyone who watched their debate would certainly think so.
My Tea Party Members and myself are voting for
Ron DeSantis in Florida. We also are backing Ron Scott against Swamp creature Nelson.
