If we expect to extradite Russian citizens, some reciprocity is going to be expected. Democrats think everything is for free.

"How can the government compel private citizens to answer questions for the Russian interrogators?"

It can't.

But it can ruffle the feathers of the Deep State. (Let Trump just hint at negotiating an extradition treaty with Russia, and watch them go completely ape****!)

“Russia (and the US) can ask for this process at any time, it’s not something that Trump can refuse.”

Exactly, AND we’re hearing now that Rosenstein left the timing of the release of the latest Mueller’s indictments up to POTUS.

So... What is the likelihood that President Trump was blindsided by the suggestion?

What are we seeing?

POTUS gives the go-ahead on the release of the indictments, and then he and President Putin get up on the world stage together and tell each other:

“You have bad actors that have been messing with my country.”

“We have an existing treaty for this sort of thing...”

Isn’t it obvious what comes next?

How about:

“In the interest of National Security and Global Peace...”

(and to continue my efforts to reduce the likelihood of nukes blowing up people... North Korea ring any bells?)

“I (POTUS) am announcing that we are going to take President Putin up on his offer of joint investigation of these matters, as our existing treaty specifies, and in fact, requires when requested.”

“We shall jointly proceed with the investigation of these matters on BOTH sides and pursue them in the manner specified in our treaty.”

Then our President and their President declassify whatever is appropriate. (Especially if there is resistance.)

Where does Mueller’s evidence actually lead?

Russia has a Deep State.
We have a Deep State.

Might we share a common interest?

I know I hold more animosity for our deep state than I do for Russia.
I suspect President Putin has a similar point of view relative to the US.

Putin doesn’t want a deep state or a global cabal messing with his country any more than we want that for ours.

I, for one, am enjoying the show.

It is a show, you know.

Just like the deal that was made with Kim Jong-un long before we saw him shaking Trump’s hand.

But it can ruffle the feathers of the Deep State

If we all agree he can't then how does that ruffle any feathers?

(Let Trump just hint at negotiating an extradition treaty with Russia, and watch them go completely ape****!)

Let Trump hint at negotiating an extradition treaty with Russia and watch the Senate break down in laughter at the thought of it getting passed.

I’d like to see Trump turn over George Soros to the Russians or the Hungarians. Soros is a US citizen and is the #1 meddler in elections worldwide.

How is this supposed to work... Hello I am Agentsky Ivan, we want you at the nearest Global Police Station?

Maybe they could meet Ivan at the local Starbucks.

It's not like they'd have to buy coffee...

"Regardless of who is Deep State or isn’t - we should not look to Russia to help us figure it out."

No, but we might find it advantageous to use Russia to get what we know either legally introduced in court, and/or to the public.

Read the Treaty:

https://www.state.gov/documents/organization/123676.pdf

It says that Russia can request that the US issue a subpoena to any US citizen and require them to answer questions.

Of course, any US citizen can also refuse to answer (5th Amendment).

Conversely, the US government can request that Russia issue a subpoena to the GRU officers and require them to answer questions.

An interesting section in the treaty is for extraditing to answer questions, but to allow them to return to their home country within 7 days of answering questions.

A treaty is a real thing - read it :)

The Russian constitution doesn’t allow extradition of its citizens.

The Russian constitution doesn’t allow extradition of its citizens.

Makes it hard to have an extradition treaty under those circumstances then.

In undermining the American democratic process, the Russians have been co-conspirators with our Deep State in undermining Trump. We are not to ally with them to go after Trump’s domestic enemies...it becomes a Catch-22 of the most serious sort.

Maybe I’m naive, but questioning on US soil, under monitoring and supervision by US personnel, isn’t automatically hideous.

It’s more supervision than Mueller has, what with his night raids and Manafort’s (dirty as he is in non-Trump matters) solitary confinement before trial.

Nice Enemedia talking point!

So your vote is to break the treaty and go to war with Russia?

It’s a simple matter for the courts, by treaty.

If there is anybody who a war posture, it is Russia. Putin relies on threat of WWIII to keep his people in line. Trump has made clear we’re not interested.

We are in a way, already at war with Russia: not so much militarily or even Cold War — but what Russians and Moscow analysts call a hybrid war. We’re similarly engaged in one with China but in different fronts. More economic. Even our traditional allies are increasingly competing with us.

NOT the same thing as nuclear war in the least!

Sorry typos. I meant: if there is anybody who has adopted a war posture, it is Russia. Their submarine buildup, cyberhacking, outer space warfare buildup, military drills including with rogue states are on steroids and their rhetoric is far more militaristic. Trump has said as much about the ridiculous arms race.

Trump is not interested in WWIII or a new Cold War ...and at this point may be playing the Russians as much as our media/Deep State with his latest comments and moves. Who knows.

Russian is demanding the USA follow the SAME standard the Muller/DOJ incitement demands of them.

The DC Media/Political Clown show just got hoisted on their own petard and are, as usual, going into absolute hysterics about it.
