Colonel Sanders used to say the word, “nigger”?

Why? Was he singing his favorite gangsta rap song?

I agree it’s a reprehensible word but why the lack of consistency?

Paula Deen allegedly said that word under unclear circumstances, and is banished from public life. Book contracts and TV shows canceled.

A black comedian called Obama “my nigger” at a public White House event, and that was ok.

Black rap people have nigger in their lyrics, and that’s ok.

Colonel Sanders didn't actually use the word himself. He was merely quoting Lyndon Johnson …

The Col was from Corbin, Ky. I protested in support of the Freedom Riders at the Trailways (or was it Greyhound? Do not remember) bus station in Corbin. Several guns were poked in my face and I was asked if I knew why there were no niggers in Corbin. The accused said, because the last one who lived here was hung from a tree by the neck. It was not a nice place to live but it was the Colonel’s home town.
Jesse Jackson later told me that the SCLC was concerned about my protest. “If you had been shot we would have died in Corbin,” he said.
