Muzzleloaders Now Targeted by “Giffords” Gun Prohibition Lobby
NRA/ILA ^ | 11/17/2017

......

Close on her heels this week was the recently-rebranded “Giffords” gun control consortium, which released a report that used the current debate over firearm legislation to … well, advocate for gun bans, too. But the Giffords report went well beyond the usual gun control talking points in extending its attack all the way to muzzle loading firearms. From the modern to the archaic, no gun is safe from the newly-emboldened prohibition lobby. ....(snip).... Semiautomatic carbines that use detachable magazines must go, they say, because they can fire too many (relatively small) rounds too quickly.

But muzzleloaders -- which fire one shot at a time and must be laboriously loaded through by hand down the barrel – can deliver what “Giffords” calls “a particularly lethal .50 caliber round” and are therefore unacceptable as well.

I know this is old news, but it's fun to see that there is no limit to what they want to grab.

“Particularly lethal” is a feature, not a flaw.

They can all go stick a Kentucky long rifle up their azzes....sideways.
These morons are NOT Americans....they’re communist socialists that should have no say in how America is governed.

Give me a .54 cal, although modern .50s do pretty well.
I suppose a .68 would scare the pants of them.

I have a Thompson Center .50 cal Hawken.. I was thinking about converting it to fully automatic with a high magazine clip. According to many of these media geniuses it is easy to do.

But the left assured us that the second amendment only applied to those type of guns. They can’t even stick to their own BS anymore.

Thats why I hate liberals. Always said for 10 years on FR, we CANNOT co-exist with leftards. For the sake of the country, one of us has to “go”...

I thought they were going to jump on black powder front loaders because they can be mail-ordered. Get a brace of ‘51 Navy Sixes if you want some mail-ordered fire power.

My 50 caliber Hawkin Rifle will fire a 320 weight-in-grain Buffalo bullet at 1400 feet per second when 90 grains of old-fashioned black powder is used. But the reload time is over one-minute with conical bullets and a little less for patched balls.

The Gifford’s Group could go after illegal weapons which cross our southern border including grenade launchers. But I guess that doesn’t fit their narrative or their fund-raising appeals.

I have the exact same rifle. They were really well made.

It is one of the few guns I saved after having to sell just about everything I owned. The idea was that I could save a few pounds of Pyrodex etc. and a few hundred caps. I could still use it to hunt with even if all my ammo gave out.

In a real emergency I could make my own black powder. I know it can be done because my Brother has done so.

A few years ago, I broke the ramrod. It splintered in a very rough way, actually perfect for epoxying it back together. I haven’t used it since so don’t know if it is strong enough.

.69 cal actually. The Brits tried to get my Charleville; she would have as much luck.

Another reason for keeping the TC Hawken was I thought, incorrectly it turns out, that they would never try to ban it.
