Why would residents of EU countries want the EU to regulate every aspect of your life? Why would people want to pay for companies to comply with 1oo regulations on a toothbrush or a bath towel? You are not permitted to buy a less expensive US toothbrush or bath towel or one from any other country either. And you will be taxed for the regulations and the company compliance.
I myself do not think that Americans have the slightest ability to comprehend why the Europeans would crave a national, continent-wide Union as is the EU, effectively surrendering their sovereignty. It must be related to the scarring that is occurred over the two world wars that were fought there. But it is so contrary to American values and sensibilities. I am just offering an explanation, not a justification.
It’s the only way to save our democracies.
