Lee, Blackburn. Bredesen is Bolshie, he will be a solid Schumer vote. Karl "Marx", what can I say.

I expect Black will be the next Governor. She will be better known outside the Nashville area.

Bredesen was governor for eight years, so, I will assume he has some name recognition. But, I can't think of anything he did, except, take the place of the traitor before him.

They have no right to make a claim to it, especially if they are endorsing NON-Conservatives. Anybody could “claim” to be Tea Party while opposing their ideals.

As you yourself said, you just arrived here in TN. I’m a lifelong resident for almost four and a half decades. I’m familiar with these people, often for many years.

Let me tell you something about Bill Lee. He claims to support all these great Conservative values. It’s news to us folks here in Nashville where he lives. He’s been in the business community for years supporting Democrats and their far-left agenda here. He’s never been seen or heard from in the Conservative or Republican community. He literally just decided to run for Governor despite having NO credibility with Republicans or the Conservative movement and using his deep pockets with faux pious ads out from under a candidate who actually HAS been doing the work and carrying the water for years as Diane Black has.

I have a real problem with people who just jump out of nowhere when they haven’t been involved in the process or are known at all and use their deep pockets to “buy” support they have not earned. If he is so “Conservative”, why did he never use his vast fortune to support those values when we’ve needed people to do so here in this Socialist city ? He hasn’t been AWOL, he’s been giving to the Democrats he claims to now oppose.

That’s called ZERO credibility. Electing phonies like him are how we lose states. Watch what happened to your beloved California and understand why those of us here in TN don’t like folks coming in here and supporting fake candidates they don’t know anything about.

I don’t know the other gubernatorial candidates, but I do know that Diane Black is the real deal. I have no reason to doubt DJ’s assessment, but even if the other candidates weren’t half as bad as DJ says, I’d still vote for Diane Black.

Black and Blackburn here.

No way I’ll ever vote for LaRaza Randy, and Lee totally underwhelmed me when I heard him speak. Harwell would just be an extension of Haslam’s agenda.
Black’s had a few “WTH?” votes but they ALL have. Overall, she’s done a good job from what I’ve seen.

Blackburn’s had her “WTH?” votes, too, but has done a good job overall.
She also did a fabulous job mentoring DesJarlais during his first run for Congress and I’m so grateful for that. She helped him oust Lincoln Davis, who we thought we’d NEVER get rid of.

Judd’s DA MAN! I’ve known him for several years and was thrilled when he told me he was going to run for Diane’s seat. I’m just disappointed I can’t vote for him because we live about 7 miles into the next county and aren’t in his district. :-(

Very Conservative and he’s rocked as a state representative, imho. I hate losing him in our General Assembly but love the idea of him as a US Congressman.

“The only candidate worth voting for for Governor is Diane Black.”

I agree. Diane Black is honest, strong and will get the job done. She also is often the first to come up with a creative solution to problems....but is always conservative. She is FIRMLY pro-life(very important)!

Art Laffer (economic adviser to President Trump) highly recommends her to be our choice. I also agree with him.

Harwell has gotten a bit wishy-washy, Boyd is totally untrustworthy and Lee is not strong enough in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I’m in the 5th, which hasn’t elected a Republican Congressman since Ulysses Grant won his 2nd term in 1872 (now the longest Dem-held seat in TN).

We tend to get sacrificial lamb candidates against a truly ineffective and strange incumbent in Jim Cooper (sadly, a far cry from his father, Prentice, who was a Conservative Democrat Governor many, many decades ago. Because Prentice was a seg, as many Dems were in the 1950s, Jim seems to think he needs to atone by being a liberal panderer. Funny thing is, he’s managed to piss everyone off with his flakiness. The right hates him and the left does, too. That he’s never drawn a serious Dem challenger is astonishing given how weak he is with their base).

It’s curious, if not bizarre, watching the ads for the 6th district, with Corlew and Rose battling it out while no mention of Matheny at all. I wondered who the hell those two were to begin with. Perhaps Matheny has remained quiet as to allow those two to destroy one another, although I found a more troubling reason... Matheny doesn’t have much money. Apparently, he only has $264k. Those two other guys have way more... Rose has $3 million (!) while Corlew has $1.5 million.

It bothers me enormously when the workhorses get outspent by these guys who decide they want to write a check and buy the office out of the blue. It’s one thing in a district where we have a lack of farm team candidates, but not when you have someone who has EARNED our trust via hard work.

I love Lees campaign, “ I’ve been going around Tennessee listening to the people and heard they wanted a Conservative.”

Wonder if Tennesse wanted a transvestite leprechaun if he would become one too? The guy is a phony.

It’s between Black and Harrell for me. After seeing Randy Boyd in his running tights, that was it for me. Blackburn is a shoe in.

You have my sympathies having Cooper as your representative.
If I recall correctly, DesJarlais is the first Republican elected in our district since the Civil War so it CAN be done. Don’t give up hope. Y’all just have to find the right person.

Ya know, as many times as I’ve seen the Corlew and Rose ads on tv, I never knew which district they were running in. I’m troubled, too, by how much the others have raised vs. what Judd has. I’m going to have to dig to see who’s giving to their campaigns. I can’t help but wonder if the State GOP is pulling their crappy stunts again this election that they pulled two years ago. They were throwing support behind liberal candidates running as “R”s and might be doing it again.

Lee couldn’t answer many questions about issues that he should have already had answers for before he started running for the office. I don’t know if he did any homework afterwards but I haven’t seen any sign of it in any of his ads.

Harwell is out for me because she was joined at the hip with Haslam and I’m not hot on that RINO crap continuing for 6 more years.

UGH! I almost need eye bleach just thinking about Boyd in running tights! Would NOT want to see!! LOL!

I can think of a few thinks Bredesen did...

he vetoed every good law about the illegal aliens including out denying any bennies to those over the age of 18...

and so in 2008 when the illegal aliens left Georgia after July 1 due to the great laws passed in that state, we were suddenly swamped in SE TN with illegal alien children in our schools etc, pushing our American citizen children and grandchildren out of their already assigned seats..

That happened to 2 of my grandchildren...

No, there were others before DesJarlais. Remember, Cooper used to represent that district from 1983-1995. Van Hilleary won it in 1994 when Cooper ran unsuccessfully for the Senate. Janice Bowling (now a State Senator) should’ve won it in 2002 when Hilleary left to run for Governor, but she was outspent and Lincoln Davis had the district lines redrawn to get him in.

Before Van Hilleary in 1994, the last Republican to win the seat was in 1920 during the anti-Wilson landslide (Warren Harding won TN, the GOP took 5 out of 10 House seats, they’d have won a Senate seat had one been up, and an elderly Alfred Taylor finally took the Governorship decades after his brother Robert beat him as the Dem nominee in the “War of the Roses.”). Wynne Clouse, the GOP victor, knocked out the Dem incumbent, Cordell Hull. Alas, Hull came back in 1922 and took the seat again. Of course, it was also the seat that sent the Gores, too.

In any event, as for my district, there’s almost no Republican presence in Nashville. We do have 1 GOP State Senator out of 3 seats, but he’s no prize (Steve Dickerson, the most liberal Republican in the body - in fact, he’s to the left of my Black Democrat State Senator, Thelma Harper). Out of 10 House seats, there’s only 1 Republican, and that’s Speaker Harwell. There’s an even chance she may be replaced by a rich Democrat running on his daddy’s name and fame (and $$). Harwell refused to chop up the Nashville districts in order to get more Republicans. We should have at least 4 out of the 10 seats to correspond with the State Senate seat Dickerson holds. Harwell would rather elect Democrats that will kiss her ass than solid Conservative Republicans who won’t.

I’m wary of the fact the GOP steadfastly refuses to enact reasonable and necessary methods for choosing our nominees. We MUST end open primaries. If Democrats know they won’t be able to elect a member in 7 out of 9 seats and countless other legislative seats, they can just go into the GOP primary and choose the most RINO fake. That has to end. Add to that, with no runoff, they could install said fake RINO with as little as 20% if you have a badly divided field. 80% of the candidates could be Conservative, and a district will get stuck with a weasel. Again, this MUST end.

We also should have something similar to Utah with a pre-primary convention that has the activists meet the candidates face to face and they get thoroughly vetted. If a candidate is overwhelmingly supported, they get the nomination outright. No Democrat chicanery.

Like you suggested, there are too many Republicans in this state that are comfortable with the chicanery to keep movement Conservatives and reformers out of office.
