U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended his top deputy Thursday after a handful of congressional Republicans moved this week to impeach him.

Speaking in Boston, Sessions said he has the "highest confidence" in Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and described him as "highly capable" when asked about the impeachment effort.

A group of 11 House conservatives on Wednesday introduced articles of impeachment against Rosenstein, who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation because Sessions has recused himself.

Ryan has 5 month left. I predict Rosenstein has about the same before he’s gone. Sessions? He may go soon after if he doesn’t like it. Tick tock tick.

I think Trump is trying to get past the mid-terms. I think he’ll then use the congressional impeachment to can Rosenweasle and the Kebbler elf will leave of his own accord.

I had such high hopes for Jeff. Thought he would roaring out of the gate once the Mueller fiasco was done.

But now I don’t know what to think.
Recusing himself over nothing.
Praising the Hammond prosecutors? They were charged with terrorism.
Now defending Rosenstein?

He just doesn’t seem to be on our side.

Once the Mueller fiasco is over, his neck will be on the chopping block and Trump knows how to swing an axe.

I am more inclined to think the man fears for his grandchildren as so many “accidental deaths “ occur around those who oppose the DS. But honor should demand he resign.

Oh you know Repubs and Dems will be screaming impeach if he does.

It all depends on when Mueller wraps up. Mueller has a wolf by the ears. He knows what will happen when he lets go.

All gloves are off post-Mueller.

Rosenstein impeachment could lead to the end of the country. His job is to cover up SO MANY UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACTS BY OUR GOVERNMENT. Let and right will unite and pitchfork, tar, and feather industries will boom if Rosenstein is impeached and the people see what he’s been covering up. Not just with Trump/Hillary/email/collusion. If he is replaced by someone who cares about the Constitution and “equal justice” it will be the end of DC.

He is protection for the “4th branch of government”. The FBI and other agencies who operate outside/above the Constitution as a 4th branch of government depend on Rosenstein (currently) to give them the appearance of acting within the Constitution while protecting them from any oversight or accountability to elected representatives of the people.

The 4th branch has been doing “surveillance” forever and has had very broad surveillance authority based on warrant targets for decades. There is not a person in DC who the 4th branch doesn’t have dirt on (except for a very few who have done nothing wrong and have not fallen into traps the 4th branch set to frame them)

Rosenstein will not be impeached. If impeachment is likely he will resign when a suitable replacement is guaranteed to take his place. Ds and Rs will see to that if impeachment becomes possible. They cannot let the people see the 4th branch of government or the dirt the 4th branch has collected over the years.

But We’re pretty certain little Paul WILL bring BullShait obstruction of justice based impeachment vote(s) to the floor anytime, anywhere he gets them. Has wet dream about them. Thinks Mitt will win with him next time.

Sessions keeps giving me reasons to despise him. He is the Creature from the Deep Swamp that I always thought he was.

Dam you Giuliani for not accepting The AG position!
