Top committee Republicans vote for border provision WORSE than amnesty
Conservative Review ^ | July 26, 2018 | Daniel Horowitz

We already know that most Republicans support amnesty just as passionately as Democrats, much as they support the key elements of Obamacare. We learned yesterday, in one of the most spectacular acts of perfidy ever against the citizenry of this country, that most top Republicans support open borders for the current wave of illegals as well as for the future waves, until the end of times.

For years, conservatives have been begging House Republicans to use the power of the purse in the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bills to stand for our borders, fight sanctuary cities, defund amnesty, and block judicial tyranny on immigration. Yet no matter how brazenly Obama and the courts defied immigration law, congressional Republicans refused to ever consider defunding the lawless acts in the budget bills. Fast-forward to the Trump administration, where Attorney General Sessions has finally committed to upholding the proper letter and spirit of asylum law — and almost every Republican on a top committee voted to defund the only effective means of ending the ruination of America’s borders.

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee, during a markup of the fiscal year 2019 DHS funding bill, voted to block the new USCIS guidance to properly interpret “credible fear” as fear of an individualized persecution by a government. As we noted before, this is the lynchpin of the entire border surge, and unless we properly interpret the law as written, the border surge, drugs, gangs, and all of the fiscal and social ills that come with them will never stop. Yet Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Kan., — yes, that Kevin Yoder — gave his support to this Democrat amendment, and it passed by voice vote.

Yoder, as chairman of the Homeland Security subcommittee, should be a warrior for the American people and law enforcement. Instead, he is a voice for illegal immigrants. He inserted numerous amendments tying the hands of DHS and giving illegals more rights. He inserted language mandating more free phone calls for illegals and more access to facilities by members of Congress so they can further agitate and hamper our brave agents.

The entire tenor of the markup was a violation of the social compact. It’s as if the ill effects of this border surge on America — from the drugs and gangs to the crushing costs and crime — didn’t matter. He voted to push forward with an investigation of separating families when we know the entire issue is built on a lie and that many of these families self-separate.

Amazingly, Yoder did this just a day after flying on Air Force One and receiving the endorsement of President Trump! The president “thanked” him for putting $5 billion in the bill for a border wall, but the border wall is worthless with Yoder’s asylum policy. It allows anyone to come here and simply claim a bogus fear. Then we are forced to deal with their children, release them, go through endless court cases, and lose control of our country. It is now clear that RINOs like Yoder not only want amnesty for those already here but want to ensure that the invasion continues in perpetuity.

Almost nobody in Congress seems to care about we the people. Senator Tom Cotton was the only one who voiced his concern:

Tom Cotton ✔ @TomCottonAR Why is @HouseAppropsGOP voting to undermine AG Sessions's asylum reforms & throw open our borders to fraud & crime? The amendment they adopted today is the kind of thing that will kill the DHS spending bill. I hope the full committee removes it.

Out of the committee members, Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, was the only one who spoke out against the provision in committee.

How totally disgusting!

Not only am I “represented” by this piece of vermin, according to this list, each and every member from Kansas (4 total counting the piece of vermin) voted in favor of it!

Former KS Rep. Tim Huelskamp, ousted by disgraceful “leader” John Boehner, would definitely stood strongly against such treasonous action!

Certainly spoils my night’s rest :>(

Sorry, folks, but Donald Trump doesn’t give a damn about immigration. He simply knew that to get elected, he had to outflank Ted Cruz.

Sadly, you're correct. I have a bunch of Trump quotes on teh subject from 2015, shortly before he decided to run for president. I compiled them in 2016:

Meanwhile, here is Donald Trump’s position as of A FEW MONTHS AGO (2015):

(July 26)

"Now, a lot of these people are helping us, whether it's the grapes, or whether it's jobs, and sometimes it's jobs, in all fairness, I love our country, but sometimes it's jobs that a citizen of the United States doesn't want to do. I mean, there are jobs that a lot of people don't want to do. I want to move them out, and we’re going to move them back in.

"I mean, a lot of people don't understand that, but the DREAMers, it’s a tough situation, we’re going to do something, and one of the things we’re going to do is expedite — when somebody's terrific, we want them back here.

"I have to tell you: Some of these people have been here, they've done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, they've been living under the shadows. ... If somebody’s been outstanding, we try and work something out."

[The article continues] This is in line with what CNN’s Chris Moody reported Trump saying during a press conference in Chicago at the end of June. When asked what he would do about the illegal immigrants already residing in the country once the border was secured, Trump replied, "give them a path," according to Moody.

Audio on Trump's amnesty record

(As of July 14)
Trump: You have to give them a path. You have 20 million, 30 million, nobody knows what it is. It used to be 11 million. Now, today I hear it’s 11, but I don’t think it’s 11. I actually heard you probably have 30 million. You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that.

(As of August 10 — remember all these dates on the Trump quotes are 2015!)

"Asked about his immigration ideas on CNN, Trump was a mess, beginning with the old "jobs Americans won’t do" canard favored by open-borders proponents (a canard because it always leaves out the relevant qualifier: "at current wages"), then suggesting that we should deport the millions of illegals who are already here only to turn around and bring them back ("I want to move them out, and we’re going to move them back in, and let them be legal.") This process would include those brought here as young children, who will be deported and recycled based on the criterion of whether they are — Trump’s word — "terrific." What might constitute a federal terrificness standard remains unclear. "We’re going to do something," Trump said. "I’ve been giving it so much thought. You know you have a, on a humanitarian basis, you have a lot of deep thought going into this, believe me. I actually have a big heart."

[The article continues] Deporting some 11 million illegals who have for many years evaded deportation only to reimport them under an expedited legal immigration system, the contours of which currently are undefined, and then granting them some sort of permanent legal status is simply another variation on amnesty, and a complicated, expensive, and thick-headed version of amnesty at that. Like the proposed reform program of 2007, which would have purportedly required illegals to be present in their country of origin when applying for legal status, this isn’t just amnesty — it’s also amnesty-laundering.

These are pro-amnesty positions Trump took JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO (2015)!

(Remember, this was written in early 2016.)

The policy of deporting illegals, only to bring them back, BTW, is called "touchback amnesty", and it's the very thing we all fought so hard to defeat in 2007 and attack the Bushies for.
