The Italian Job was the first movie that came to mind; excellent film. The remake stands on its own.Agreed; very colorful and suspenseful, especially the second one.
A film from the mid-1960s called "Topkapi", with Peter Ustinov and Melina Mercouri (of the "Zorba the Greek" film), was a forerunner to films about technology-assisted jewel heists from museums -- also very entertaining.
And "Ocean's Eight", the recent jewel heist film with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rhianna and Helena Bonham Carter and dozens of cameos by celebrities, set at the Met Gala was also very enjoyable, at least to me. I was mainly interested in the Met, the evening gowns and the jewelry.
