Ted Cruz asks Trump to campaign for him in Texas
MSN News ^ | August 7, 2018 | Jeremy Wallace

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has asked President Donald Trump to come to Texas to campaign for him.

During a campaign stop in Seguin late Monday, Cruz said he has reached out to his former rival for the White House to help him with his re-election effort against Democrat Beto O’Rourke.

“I would certainly welcome his support and I hope to see him in Texas,” Cruz said, standing outside the Dixie Grill in Seguin. “I think we are likely to see the president down in Texas before the election.”

Cruz said while his relationship with Trump has had its “ups and downs” due to their 2016 GOP primary battle, he has tried to become an ally to the President. He said he has been in constant contact with the White House and Trump directly to offer his help in getting legislation through the Senate.

No mention of Ted Cruz can be tolerated without the usual suspects flaming him for the unpardonable sin of having run against Donald Trump in the primaries

The problem with Cruz isn't that he ran against Trump in the primaries, but rather his spiteful, sore loser conduct during the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Having said that, over the past year Cruz seems to have gotten over the loss of the primary and become a team player on most issues. For this reason, Trump should reciprocate and campaign for Cruz (even though it's more or less certain that Cruz will probably beat Vato O'Rourke with or without Trump's help, most likely by double digits).

Cruz’s wife works from what company again? Can’t remember, but it was one of the big banks responsible for 2008. Goldman?

I think its Goldman.

The wives. Wow. I was married to a harridan who’s cousin married a Senator. She got paid $500K plus working for a big insurance lobbying firm. He was on the Senate Banking Committee in 2008.

Yeah.

“Senator” Cruz is just fine with me. You can be born in Canada and still be a U.S. Senator, just not president (or vice president).

I think Trump should help him. I think Trump WILL help him.

“No mention of Ted Cruz can be tolerated without the usual suspects flaming him for the unpardonable sin of having run against Donald Trump in the primaries.”

Why would you even say something as dishonest about this?

I have never heard of anyone ever attacking Senator Cruz for running for president.

I agree with many of Senator Cruz’s positions.

However, I did not like it when Senator Cruz:

1. Lied about Ben Carson dropping out of the race on the evening of the Iowa Caucus and telling Carson supporters to vote for Cruz.

2. Attacked Trump and his supporters for being violent and at fault after a Chicago campaign event was targeted, violently attacked and shut down in an organized assault by leftists groups.

3. Joined with candidates Rubio and Kasich to work together to prevent Trump from getting the nomination.

4. Joined with Glen Beck for vicious and dishonest attacks on Trump.

5. After being given a prime speaking slot at the Republican Convention, refusing to endorse Trump and telling people to vote their conscience. Immediately after Cruz’s speech the Democrats used Vote Your Conscience as a campaign slogan.

No one is perfect. Senator Cruz should win. I hope Cruz and Trump can work together in the future.

Romney will not be Majority Leader, hard to see how you came up with that idea.

I do not claim Trump is SAFE in Texas or any place else.

This latest Intelligence Agencies effort to remove the President from office is the most dangerous force aimed at our Republic since the JFK killing and cover-up. That convinced them they could get away with anything

Keyes led the poll of FR for president. It just demonstrates how different our people are from the average voter.

It was almost impossible for him to win that seat.

I was not saying he was not a disastrous choice but don’t fool yourself about Oberweis’s prospects. Some dirty deal or statement he made would have been amplified by the Goebbelsmedia into a smear that would have defeated him.

Remember the response to Ob’s stadium ad and the outrage that generated.

Then you have the near impossible task of winning as a carpetbagger which is rare.

Of course, this was set up by the perfidious media (esp. the Tribune) and irresponsible court.

You should not be surprised that Conservatives were not enthusiastic about Cruz for using the Demon’s talking points calling Trump creating violence. His comments about Chicago’s riot were beneath contempt and showed a great lack of character and unfitness for the Presidency. Much to my chagrin.

IMHO, when it comes to this kind of thing, we need to be just like the RATs and support our guy no matter how bad.

Better of two evils?

That's what brought us about 30+ years of corrupt establishment posers and America last globalist which drove the country into a steady decline...As soon as people understood this, a non establishment candidate was supported and then blew them all off the stage into obscurity.

“Some dirty deal or statement he made would have been amplified by the Goebbelsmedia into a smear that would have defeated him.“

Maybe and maybe not. But the Combine made sure to run an completely unelectable candidate which paved the way for the Obama presidency.

That’s unforgivable in my book.

That shows that this problem is much bigger than the “Combine” which pollutes politics here.

I think there was a moment Cruz piled on candidate Roy Moore, wasn’t there?

That’s the problem this November. Voters have to award the GOP swamp critters just to avoid a Trump impeachment.

He did. That was when I first learned to hate. Hated Perino and Gutfeld for jumping up and slicing Trump’s throat over the tape. If Ted was part of that hypocritical un-Christian response, to hell with him.

THAT was Cruz? There were so many fake Republicans doing that then - like Romney.

Yes that is an ugly connection, but aren’t some of Trump’s economic advisers also tied to Goldman?
