evidence yet that a research firm, hired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to find dirt on and defeat Donald Trump, worked early and often with the FBI, a Department of Justice (DOJ) official and the intelligence community during the 2016 presidential election and the early days of Trump's presidency.
Fusion GPS's work and its involvement with several FBI officials have been well reported.
But a close review of these new documents shows just how closely Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, who reported to Obama-era Deputy AG Sally Yates, maintained contact with Fusion — and, in particular, its primary source, former British spy Christopher Steele — before, during and after the election.
Yates was fired by President Trump over an unrelated political dispute. Ohr was demoted recently.
Ohr’s own notes, emails and text messages show he communicated extensively with Steele and with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson. Those documents have been turned over in recent weeks to investigative bodies in Congress and the DOJ, but not reviewed outside the investigative ranks until now.

I’ve been wondering who brought Steele to the table.
1) Did Bruce Ohr, Yates, Strzok, or others in the DoJ, FBI/CIA advise Hillary Clinton, directly or indirectly to use Steele?
2) Did the forementioned advise Glenn Simpson to use Steele?
3) Did Hillary’s lawyers tell Simpson to use Steele? This would indicate that the connection was via Hillary or her campaign.
Seems to me that demonstrating Hillary-Government collusion about Steele, before the dirt was collected, would finally blow up the whole Trump-Russia narrative and the SC investigation.

As I posted here at FR a couple of times last week, both Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie Ohr( the Russian expert), now seem to have played a much greater and more devious (and possibly illegal) role in the Steele “Dossier Affair” than previously thought.
Nellie Ohr, while at DOJ or the State Department (I don’t remember which) and then at Fusion GPS, provided the “Russian connection”, if not the “Russian Collusion” nexus between her husband, Bruce, Glen Simpson (GPS), Steele, the DNC/Hillary Clinton, and possibly Michael Isikoff/David Corn at Yahoo and The Nation.
Steele had his own “Russian connection/collusion” with the three unidentified “Russian” sources for the “dossier”. This greatly touted British mastermind counterintelligence agent was “conned” by Putin’s intelligence service, period.
No “three anonymous sources” with “dirt” about Trump in a Moscow hotel just came out of thin air. Since there was no “Golden Shower” affair, Steele was either compromised into trusting these “3”, duped beyond belief which casts doubts on either his “intelligence skills” or he was “sympathetic” to the “Get Trump” campaign.
In theory, if not in fact, Steele had U.S. intelligence sources (FBI - Comey, Ohr, Strzok/Page, Weissman, Yates; CIA - Clapper; DNI - Brennan) who he could call upon for assistance in getting the dirt on Trump, one way or the other.
The Russians, sensing his desperation and desire to get paid (by the FBI, CIA, Fusion, DNC, whoever), “set him up” with the “3”. He fell for it and the rest is history.
We NEED to know if British intelligence, either MI-5 or MI-6 had any role in aiding Steele’s “search” for information on Trump? MI-6 has been compromised by the Soviets (KGB/GRU) since the 1930’s or so, at least the 40’s, so it is not inconceivable that they still have a few ‘Moles’ left in place, or have recruited new ones from their “traditional” recruiting places - Cambridge, Oxford, etc.
The DNI may have played an important role in helping Steele through Mifsud, Halper, Page?, and a cast of other secondary names in the press. And who ran the CIA - Comrade/Muslim? Brennan, a man I won’t trust to feed my cats no less protect America. His background needs to be put before a congressional committee and he must be questioned about who he really is and what he has done to undermine American foreign policies/security from Benghazi to Iraq/ISIS, Iran, and Cuba.
The Ohrs are like the nerve/neuron junctions that past electrical impulses throughout the human body. Strzok/Page, Yates, and others are more junctions.
But instead of being a nerve impulse network/web, they were a treasonous web of subversion aided/abetted/guided by Hillary Clinton and her band of crooks, the Obama Deep State network he left “in place”, individual “Hate Trump” political wackos, and possible Russian operatives/assets “in place” in the US government.
And overseeing but not looking at all this was FBI Director James Comey and CIA Director James Clapper, as well as higher ups at the NSA (re the FISA warrants).
Not all of the “rats” have been uncovered and exposed as of yet, but a new, powerful Special Prosecutor and an investigative time made up of people we can trust (get them from Military Intelligence - DIA, ONI, OSI, and former FBI counter-intelligence people who we know are on America’s side, and Joe DiGenova, we can create the greatest investigative team in American history.
Aided by great journalists such as Greg Jarrett, John Sullivan, Sara Carter, Tom Fitton (Judicial Watch), attorney Jay Sekulow, and many others whose writings have been featured here at Free Republic, we could finally get to the bottom of this treason and political corruption.
“The Perp Walk” will become the unofficial dance of the Democrat Party and “Folsom Prison Blues” will be their political swan song.

I’m not so sure about Hillary since she’d resigned her govt. post years before, so she wasn’t a govt. employee. But the people who were in the DOJ and FBI: yes, extremely illegal, prosecutably so. It’s probably a Hatch Act violation. It’s also very illegal to use an official govt. position to harass somebody and use your office to frame them for later prosecution, which is what Strzok was doing and was stupid enough to put it in writing all over the place.
