There is no telling what was in the officer’s mind when he saw that backpack. Backpacks can go BOOM!, you know. And, the officer may have thought that physical restraint may have caused greater physical harm if he had to run and tackle her. He might have had a large physic made for tackling bigger troublemakers.

You may be happy that the mayor of Cincinnati had the charges dropped. The person who Tased the girl was an off-duty officer working security at the store. There will be decisions about him after the investigation is done and there will be rules changed about the use of Tasers. We hope the girl changes her mind about her future actions.

Everyone is missing the obvious here. The ONLY safe/kind/PC thing that cop( or any store security) can do is let the kid go. ESPECIALLY if it's a girl! What would that mother be screaming now if that grown man had tackled her preteen girl to the ground-physically put hands on her? He'd be accused of sexual assault by TOUCHING her!
So get the word out-the new normal is lettem go. One, three, a dozen, doesn't matter what they're stealing- security is paralyzed and word gets around its free shopping.
WHY didn't the little thief STOP when told? Why wasn't she respectful/afraid of the big mean man? Maybe store security should be armed with rope so they can lasso thieves at a distance? Nope-the only PC thing to do is let them walk out with whatever they like. Then stores close and the cry of 'food deserts', 'we have no place to shop(steal)'goes up! Then the 'rich' store owners are to blame for not taking their losses and remaining open as a charity!

You’ve said it all, brother.

And this is, indeed, the reason for the so-called food deserts.

New Yorker? Figures, any Cop trying to do his job is gonna be a boot licker to you.

But, let me ask you something. Do you have a lock on your house? your car? Do you protect your check book / Debit card? How about your Credit Card? In this day and age of “gimme dat” THAT makes you a boot licker too.

I’d tase my own 11 year old if I caught him shoplifting.

This isn’t about stealing “one” item, this is about a young idiot who was no doubt on her way to a life of crime. This is about PERPETUATING a culture of theft and thuggery. I stand by my statement that maybe, JUST MAYBE, the fact that she got a dose of immediate kharma might do her some good in the long run because I PROMISE you, this wasn’t her first time and damn sure wasn’t going to be her last if not “corrected”.

I understand now. Anyone with fingers and bacteria is a deadly threat that needs to be tased/shot/mauled the second they don’t comply.

Children, mentally ill, elderly. Anyone but a stumpy bubbleboy is a deadly threat I now realize. Thanks for your great knowledge!

I see now it was perfectly fine all along to shock such dangerous fingered people with more juice than ornery cattle

You “understand” nothing and are a particularly nasty and lefty poster, who truly is NOT an asset to this site or nation.

Then it’s perfectly fine to immediately shock you or your preteen kid with equivalent of multiple cattle prods if you don’t instantly kneel whenever the state wants.

People are always paying attention and misunderstandings are impossible. If they don’t instantly follow the crystal clear orders of our perfect police, prod them in the back until they fall on their face. That’ll learn em to listen better!
