Michigan county investigating ballot shortage in election

Local officials are investigating after a Michigan county ran short on ballots after a historic voter turnout for a spate of elections on Tuesday, The Detroit Free Press reported.

The news outlet reported Wednesday that 34 percent of voters attempted to cast a ballot in a host of state, local and national elections on the ballot in Oakland County. That number was five percentage points higher than area officials were expecting.

Officials attributed the shortage to a confluence of factors, including two open Congressional seats to replace Reps. David Trott (R) and Sander Levin (D).

Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown (D) told The Free Press that enthusiasm among Democrats who disapprove of President Trump and GOP candidates likely played a role, too.

She also noted it was the first time the county listed Libertarian candidates on primary ballots.

Word of the shortage quickly spread, with the Michigan Secretary of State tweeting on Tuesday night that voters in line by 8 p.m. would be allowed to vote if they remained at their polling place.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan has pledged to look into the issue.

Michigan hosted a number of nationally prominent state-wide elections on Tuesday night.

Former state House Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer (D) won the Democratic nomination for governor, edging out two challengers who tried to position themselves to her left, including one backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Whitmer will face Attorney General Bill Schuette (R) in November.

Meanwhile, military veteran John James, who won the endorsement of President Trump, secured the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).

Our election system is broken, and in nearly 100% of the cases, it benefits the DEMs.

Well that should make everybody feel all warm and cozy.

Exactly.

How can we possibly fight the massive voter fraud that we KNOW is going to be attempted come November?

They know we can’t fight it effectively....so all it takes is some dishonest/greedy/corrupt election officials who take orders from Soros/Hillary/Obama/Pelosi/Schumer.

I would say PRAYER is our chief weapon = that and enough of a turnout to overcome the fraud.

Since the polling/voting locations/staff know exactly how many registered voters there are, it would seem they would print that amount (+ extras) to ensure there would be enough ballots.

Okay, so there were more candidates on the ballot. This cycle, there was a Libertarian candidate. So they ran low on ballots. Because....... oh, I don’t know when you have more people on the ballot, that must mean you meet need more ballots, do I have that right, isn’t that what they taught me in school, with the new math? Is this supposed to be a piece of rationality that people with functioning brains would accept? Once again, there are now candidates for the libertarian party, so that means we need more ballots. Okay, got it.

Fortunately, a precedent for not accepting the results of an election has been set - and our side has guns...

We know from the released documents, they tried to guarantee hillary would win the last election.. they pulled all the strings they could. I figure they have done it before and will do it again.

They beat bernie... they lost to Trump... and the payback has been on going since.

The Dems must’ve packed a few more buses of out out state union workers than usual. They used the same calculator the IPCC scientist used to state the Himalayas would melt by 2020.

Just throwing this out there. Primaries historically have low turnout, so they based the number of ballots on the normal number. But this year, the President endorsed a black man for US Senate. Maybe the unexpected uptick in voters is from Black men, who normally have low voter turnout. Or just wishful thinking on my part.

The first thing that the first poll worker I came upon in my voting precinct (#18, Shelby Twp, MI) asked me was what I did for a living. This was highly irregular for a stranger, who also happened to be working as a polling place volunteer, to ask somebody a question like that instead of getting on with the task at hand. I told him (even though it was none of his business) that I’m semi-retired as a CAD Designer/Draftsman. He went on to tell me that he was one of the teachers there at the Jr. High School (Malow) my precinct votes in and it’s also the very same Jr. High that I attended in Utica Community Schools in the early ‘70’s. When I went to the ID and voter roll checker (teen using a laptop) he acted as though there was some discrepancy with my address and that held me up again. When they finally said I was good to go, I said “Good, at least now I don’t have to call the police because I’ve been legally registered and voting here for 40 years!”. Well, damned if that didn’t raise a few eyebrows...And if they thought they had a “hothead” on their hands they were right, or at least the potential was there given the inappropriate questioning I was subjected to right off the bat. When I was done with the voting and on my way I had to walk past the same guy at the first table and he asked me what I thought the problem was and I said “I don’t know” and just kept walking. Once I was back in my car it occurred to me that this guy used to work at one of Arab-owned and operated party stores just around the corner from where I’ve lived for the past 18 years...I remember going to that party store on 9/11/01 to by a newspaper late in the evening and you could have heard a pin drop in there it was so quiet...

“Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown (D) told The Free Press that enthusiasm among Democrats who disapprove of President Trump and GOP candidates likely played a role, too.”
********
OR... more likely it was because Michigan, for the first time, has a closed primary and voters could only vote for one party, not cross over as before and vote between parties. The election official at my polling place told me that they had experienced more spoiled ballots than ever before. I suspect it had more to do with spoiled ballots, Ms. Brown (D) than “people who disapprove of President Trump and the GOP candidates.” As she well knows. What a liar she is.

Lisa Brown was warned ahead of time to have more ballots available but refused to listen. I’m a precinct delegate in Oakland County. Information came from very reliable sources. Lisa Brown is a liar.

...and have no established procedure to insure the total number of votes cast does not exceed the number of ballots printed or the number of registered voters.

It doesnt matter when the outcome has been decided beforehand.
