An explosion of drive-by shootings erupted on Chicagos South and West sides this weekend. At least 74 people were shot, and 12 killed, between 3 p.m. on Friday and 6 a.m. on Monday. In one seven-hour stretch, starting around midnight on Saturday, at least 40 people were shot, four fatally, as gunmen targeted a block party, the aftermath of a funeral, and a front porch, reports the Chicago Tribune. Over two and a half hours that morning, 25 people were shot in five multiple-injury shootings, including a 17-year-old who died after being shot in the face. An 11-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old girl were also hit over the course of the weekends bloodbath. Mt. Sinais emergency room shut down for several hours due to the overload of bodies; in May, the entire hospital went into lockdown following a virtual riot in its lobby among gangbangers, reported Tribune columnist John Kass.
Meantime, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois attorney general Lisa Madigan recently celebrated the issuance of a 232-page draft consent decree for the Chicago Police Department, possibly the longest police consent decree ever written. Among numerous other red-tape-generating provisions, it requires the CPD to revise its protocols regarding transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals, to make sure that the CPD policies properly define these terms and that officers address intersex, transgender, and the gender non-conforming with the names, pronouns and titles of respect appropriate to that individuals gender. Last Thursday, a so-called anti-violence march shut down Lake Shore Drive to demand that the CPD hire more black officers and that City Hall spend more on social programs in the black community. Few voices, in other words, are tackling the actual cause of Chicagos violence: the breakdown of the black family structure and a demoralized police department.

Its a toilet
I’m not familiar with Chicago but it seems there is still viable economic activity there; how has it prevented an outcome like Newark NJ?
how has it prevented an outcome like Newark NJ?
Chicago isnt really one city. Its over 100 neighborhoods jammed together under a single banner. The killings are taking place in about 10 or 12 of those neighborhoods. Factor those out and Chicago becomes as safe as Geneva, Switzerland.

Thank you; that makes sense. Newark has a similar set-up (though on a smaller scale), and the killings take place in four of six sections. Factor out the two relative “safe zones”, and Newark becomes as safe as Leopoldville.
This is the Hope and Change that the Okenyan promised for all of America. And now we have Pantifa thugs, gender-confused snowflakes, and hate-whiteys that are wondering why there is mass confusion, violence, and reverse progress.
This is what happens when you let Marxist Demonrats run things. Daly may have been totally corrupt, but he knew this sort of BS was totally unacceptable.
I walked into an auto parts store and asked for some gender-fluid. They looked confused, so I explained it was for my tranny.
What did Liberals use for light before candles?
Electricity.
Youre welcome.
Ive had a love/hate relationship with Chicago for 30 years. I work there now. Parts of it are amazing, beautiful, and truly world class. But thats in spite of, not because of, the political leadership.
And one has to realize that the gangs and the politicians are allies. The gangs provide the muscle and GOTV workers. In return the politicians provide protection to the gangs via a hamstrung police department.
The politicians keep getting re-elected, the Loop provides a functioning economy, and everyone turns a blind eye to the carnage on the south and west sides.
L
My understanding is that Newark has a similar issue; the municipal government is in cahoots with the gangs. Because so much of the city has been destroyed since it fell half a century ago, there is no “love/hate relationship”; there is nothing left to love. Attempts to woo back the productive people in the surrounding areas fall flat because they are the children and grandchildren of those chased out decades ago; they have no misconceptions about race relations, and in the highest-taxed state in the country they understand they are being enticed back to provide everything for a non-working hostile population (and companies understand the same dynamic). Economic activity is generally confined to the small downtown, and increasingly the surrounding towns - some of which aren’t in the same county so they can escape the county tax levies raised to keep Newark afloat. Law enforcement is largely a ceremonial display; it doesn’t exist for all intents and purposes outside of the sections where working people commute in every day (and must be out by sunset).
Newark is a small-scale demonstration of why the Founding Fathers restricted voting to taxpayers; they resented “taxation without representation”, and equally understood the dangers of “representation without taxation”.
Boy, the demonrats have a lot to be proud of. Savage is right. The democrat form of liberalism is a mental disease. Sort of like zombies. Running around brainless wanting to spread their disease to everyone, whether you like it or not.
It’s an abattoir - San Francisco is a toilet.....
Dems desperately trying to find a way to blame White Republicans.
I'm just gonna leave that right there...
LOL! Will you be here all week?
How can this be?
Maybe they need to elect more democrats so this mess will get cleaned up!

Good summation of the disaster that is Chicago. The body count is the “cost” corrupt Democrat politicians don’t mind incurring to ensure they stay in power.
The Democrats stay in power.
The gangs stay in power.
The people die.
A little stop and frisk would work wonders.....
Imagine how busy the emergency rooms get during a Chicago murder spree. Nurses, doctors, admins must be working 24 hour shifts.
Pantifa?
