I'd like for our curious, indefatigably investigative journalists to check this exorcism angle out.

I have never heard of an exorcism being sought by anybody except the possessed person and/or the family. The Church protocol for dealing with this extremely cautious. You can't even be considered for exorcism unless natural causes for your symptoms (medical and psychiatric) are ruled out.

I'm somewhat skeptical that a monsignor, of all people, would look at a kid with obvious mental health issues and immediately decide there were no mental health issues!

i would freely concede the mentally ill part if i believed in "mental illness". The man has either a physical problem, or a spiritual issue that he needs to deal with.
