Qatar pledges to make direct investment in Turkey, currently hit by currency crisis amid a diplomatic stand-off with US.

My guess is that Qatar is picking up the tab for Turkey's jihadi surrogates in Syria, and paying up front for Turkish military protection from Saudi Arabia.

Groucho: “That’s a heck of a lot of turkey there. Are you going to have enough cranberry sauce?”

From my friends over in that area now, they say Qatar is still a proxy for Iran. FYI.

Doesn’t make any sense to do so. Oil producers are an oligopoly. Letting the Saudis grab a province would lead all the other Arab leaders to think expanding their borders is a live possibility. Oil prices would spike if we had one less player in the sector. Things would be even worse if there was a free-for-all over territory.

Stop buying any product from those moslem Bastards. Dont need to anymore. Dont get me started on those Saudi Sunni terrorist dogs that killed 3000 Americans on our soil. Dont do it.

Somebody will. Oil is a fungible product with a single price, adjusted for grade and transportation costs. If oil goes to $200, we will pay $200 for oil, half of it from foreign sources. Even if we were producing all 20m barrels we consume a day instead of the 10m barrels we actually do, $200 oil would inflict great damage on a lot of industrial sectors.

The Saudi government did not do 9/11. Bin Laden used Saudi al Qaeda members because he wanted to have Uncle Sam topple the principal obstacle to his objective of becoming Caliph of a new Islamic empire with a capital in Mecca - the Saudi Royals. The idea was that a US invasion of Saudi Arabia would unite the Muslim world behind him. When that failed, he was out of ideas, because even the paltry resources that he had dried up.

There are rumors that 2 Saudi princes who might have been collaborating with bin Laden ended up dying mysteriously after being recalled. One had a heart attack and another died of thirst in the desert. Again, not surprising. Palace intrigues are a staple of all dynasties. Richard III had his nephews killed. Ottoman caliphs killed all their brothers upon taking the throne. It’s possible the two Saudi princes did in fact help bin Laden, hoping to get a shot at the throne in the chaos of an American invasion.

All senior members of Qatar’s Al-Thani family and Erdogan himself are Muslim Brothers of decades standing. And yet, Foggy Bottom continues to play footsie with the treacherous Ikhwn al-Muslimun.

$15B will fund a corrupt state maybe 2 months. The Qataris will learn the same lesson that the Chinese learned in Venezuela.

Iran is broke too. Even soros can't bail out all the miscreants begging for money now.

My guess is they are on a buying spree in a bargain-basement economy. Last I heard the Lira was at sixteen cents on the dollar. A week at a five star hotel for two was $200 US.

The problem with going there is that Turkey could erupt in civil war at any moment. And, don’t you just love democracies where the next leader, already chosen, is a relative of the present leader?

Erdogan said, “Democracy is like a bus. You ride it to the destination you want and then get off.”

Since Qatar's closely linked to Iran, and Iran, Turkey, and Russia are allied, this isn't a surprise.
