Full title: Military Atheist Group Wants to Throw Air Force Commander 'Behind Prison Bars' for His Christian Faith
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) sent a formal complaint this week to Defense Secretary James Mattis calling for an investigation of Brig. Gen. E. John Teichert, a Christian and the newly installed commander of the 412 Test Wing at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
The group is furious at Teichert for posting links to articles, a Christmas video, and scriptures on his personal website called Prayer at Lunchtime for the United States. The website also has a list of prayer requests.
The MRFF says the website is in violation Air Force and Defense Department rules about religious proselytizing.

The general had the temerity to speak against the LBGT and to recommend voting a particular way (for Christian candidates)
Precisely why I believe Mattis is a disaster at Defense and Trump knows so little about the military that he defers to Mattis on all defense matters. Mattis is an Obama era general, enough said.
It is not his faith that people have objections too - It is pushing it on others.

How is he pushing his faith on others? Do not the “others” have the right to ignore his postings? Where is he forcing them to listen to him or to read his postings? Is he threatening them with bodily harm if they do not obey his preachings? Obviously they are free to criticize his beliefs, but they have no right to close down his freedom of speech. They need to be taught the difference between freedom of religion and freedom from religion.
Our Founding Fathers were well aware of the wars of religion that embroiled the European countries for centuries. The Spanish Inquisition,the persecution of the Huguenots in France to name two, led the Framers to assure American Citizens that they would never be subject to a STATE RELIGION but were free to choose their own religion, or none.
What peace? Every day there are attacks against Christians because of their Faith and Moral Beliefs. Baking cakes celebrating immorality, murdering millions of unborn children, forcing Christian Institutions to preach or act against their own faith and beliefs. WHERE is there peace? I don’t see any!

There is nothing wrong with him running a religious website.
Best thing to do with these cretins is challenge them to cite chapter and verse of which specific DOD instruction supposedly prohibits what the Brig Gen is accused of doing.

He’s still a USAF Colonel.
He’s been selected for promotion to Brigadier General (O-7, one star). The selection list may still be pending approval by Congress.
Even after approval, no one on any selectee list is actually promoted to the higher grade until a specific date as determined by Air Force Instructions and applicable Federal statutes.
Actual promotions don’t begin until billets are vacated and senior personnel retire or otherwise leave active duty, consistent with maintaining end strength limits - also determined by Congress. A certain number of individuals are promoted each month, until the list is exhausted. Sometimes it takes more than a year to run through everyone on the list.
Col Teichert was “frocked” - a courtesy extended to some personnel on a promotion list if they happen to be assume a position authorized for a higher grade. It’s a service tradition, carryng no official standing. He’s had stars pinned on, but will still get paid as an O-6 until his line number (selection order on the promotion list) comes up on the monthly increment.
The frocking was noted on the last line of the Edwards official website page.
