Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster follower denied right to wear colander in ID photos

The Dutch council of state has ruled that Pastafarianism is not a religion, denying a follower of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster the right to wear a colander on her head in her passport and driving licence photo.

Mienke de Wilde is now considering taking her case to the European court of human rights.

The Netherlands’ highest court said de Wilde, a law student from Nijmegen, could not be exempted on religious grounds from a ban on headwear in ...

I know it's irreverent, but that anyone would actually want to wear a colander on their head to slight Christianity is just plain funny! I say let her wear it - it's a huge neon sign that translates, 'do not mate with me' !

>>I know it’s irreverent, but that anyone would actually want to wear a colander on their head to slight Christianity is just plain funny!<<

I think there is a serious point being made using a humorous medium. I don’t think this is a slight on Christianity as it is that giving special treatment to ANY religion demands that religiosity be defined.

And we know in the EU today it isn’t Christianity that is given wide latitude.

Note: The Church of the Spaghetti Monster was created to make that point.

Sorry, but the Pastafarians are simply God-hating atheists, and 99% of them probably see Muslims as their brothers in arms against Christianity.

You don’t get the point either.

Oh well.

No, you don’t get the point. Pastafarianism isn’t from Europe. It’s from Oregon. Its creators are complaining about some special treatment Muslims are getting. They’re complaining that the State tolerates Christianity at all, pushing for a complete abolition of God from any element of public discourse. Only atheism is to be tolerated.

These creeps wear it for picture day but never in their daily life.

One got busted with a driving infraction once and didn’t have the strainer on his head.

Your “facts” are so totally incorrect you should work for cfnn.

I am one of the few survivors of the crevo wars. I know all about Pastafarians and its origins. Clearly much more than you.

No. Not God hating. Those members who are not atheist/ agnostic, are sick and tired of organized religions that tend to control every aspect of individuals lives outside of just faith. It could be murderous Muslims or pedophilic clerics like in my church, the Catholic Church.

I find the humor in it refreshing.

In thinking about it I apologize for the cfnn slight.

You are merely mistaken. cfnn makes stuff up or bends events to match their narrative (HATE TRUMP! HATE AMERICA! HATE WHITEY!)

But you ARE mistaken.

I understand why. The crevo wars were very emotional.

what point is that?

"For this is your eternal enemy, who wish to have a false diety (sic) preachd in schools; And make abortion murder. - The FSM"

I recall Democrat Phelpsians holding up the GHF signs and protesting against Bush's war in Iraq. I can't ever seem to recall them pushing for prayer in schools. Or protesting against abortion.

Good. Maybe this can be used as a pretext to stopping the nonsense of calling ilam a religion.

We all know it is not.
