I bought some commercial property several years ago and used a similar tactic. They were asking $500, I offered $230, they countered with $480, and I gave a final offer of $235. They took it!!!! My rep in town as a negotiator soared. ;)

But according to Middle East Eye, Turkish diplomats said they could release Brunson anyway, subject to further concessions from the US which could soothe diplomatic tensions and helping alleviate the diplomatic and economic crisis.

Sorry, but anyone dumb enough to go to Turkey should know the consequences, anyone who saw “Midnight Express” should know what kind of country Turkey is.
As a house flipper, I have gotten offers like this, and my normal response is to tell the agent to tell his clients to go f#$% themselves, and I will never entertain an offer from that agent again, and I will also make sure my network of flippers know who the agent is. In short, when dealing with professionals, that is a good way to get both yourself and your agent blackballed.
I am reminded of Samuel which has one of my favorite stories in the Bible. The Philistines capture the ark but it does not go well with them. They eventually say and I’ll paraphrase — “send it back to them before it kills us all”. I know it is not exactly the same thing but I was reminded nonetheless.

Trump met Erdogan at a Nato meeting early in June. Their discussions were very friendly, and after they ended, Trump thought they had made a deal: Trump would ask Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to release a Turkish citizen, Ebru Ozkan, arrested because of alleged terrorist links to Hamas, and then Turkey would release pastor Andrew Brunson, who was arrested in Turkey on October 2016 on charges of espionage, which the US considers are bogus charges. So on July 14, Trump called Netanyahu and requested that Ozkan be released, and she was released the next day. But Brunson was not released, and Turkish officials said that no such deal had ever been made. Instead, they began piling more demands that would have to be met in exchange for the release of Brunson, including the extradition of Fethullah Gulen, whom Erdogan blames for the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016, but without any evidence.
Erdogan is just a liar, and can't be trusted in a deal, so he'll get no other deals.
