Cardinal Burke: ‘Very Grave Problem of Homosexual Culture in the Church
Breitbart ^ | Nolte

Posted on 08/17/2018 8:40:24 AM PDT by wardaddy

Cardinal Raymond Burke has called for “open recognition” of the Catholic church’s homosexual culture in light of recent revelations of sexual abuse. “I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church,” Burke said in an interview Thursday, “especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously.”

he former head of the church’s equivalent of the Supreme Court said it was already “clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men.”

“There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this,” he said, referring to the mainstream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself.

I was cornered by a pedophile priest at the age of 10. I was fortunate enough to to get pulled away from him by a friend who happened upon my predicament.
Yes - it was a long time ago - but our local diocese didn’t invite us to report the abuse until a “hotline” was established the early 2000s.
So I reported it.
The pedophile was a missionary priest from India - so (I was told) he was “reported” to the corresponding bishop in India.
Now I have no way of knowing where it went from there - the pedophile is dead now - but when I can find that a hospital wing was named in his honor, and a celebration occurred when his bust was unveiled - no one must’ve taken the reports very seriously.

It proves nothing about God's plan for mankind; that it's not good for man to be alone.

Scriptural requirements for elder and deacon are for marriage and marriage was the norm in the early church. Peter was a married man who took his believing wife with him, according to Scripture.

I never hear the same kind of accusations of problems from or about the married clergy in the Orthodox church. THEY seem to have figured out how to make it work.

If they can do it, the Roman rite can. The Roman rite could take some lessons from the Orthodox it seems.

And your experience with supposed *born again* prot churches proves nothing about the fact that marriage can work for ministers. It depends on how much drama the church leadership is willing to put up with.

It proves nothing about the workability of the situation,.

Catholicism and true Christianity are synonymous.

Nonsense back.

Catholicism does not represent the Christianity as presented in Scripture.

Christians follow CHRIST.

Catholics follow their church.

If you're claiming that what we're seeing in Catholicism today and has been going on for centuries is *true Christianity*, it's pretty obvious that you don't know what true Christianity is.

It certainly is not the abuse of power and sexual escapades that the church has allowed to continue in it as it has done for over 1,000 years.

Christianity is *Be ye holy as I am holy*. It's living a CHRISTLIKE life, not a life of debauchery and excess that is demonically motivated.

And it's not allowing such in its clergy.

That's the way I read it too. Except, he seemed to be saying that this is NOT pedophilia, it's ONLY homosexuality because the boys are past the start of puberty? That gets sketchy. Priests don't tend to have consistent, unsupervised access to boys until they are about 12 years old (alter boys, servers, bible studies, CCD classes, etc.). Further, the article seems to suggest that one is worse than the other, as if there is a different level of consent. It's RAPE either way you cut it. And it should be punished as harshly.

If the problem were *just* homoseuxality, then they wouldn't be going after younger boys. They'd be keeping it among themselves where they'd have willing, compliant partners who would be happy to keep their mouths shut and not risk getting caught.

The fact that they went after young teenaged boys indicates that the problem IS pedophilia.

And I agree with you that very likely the only reason they didn't have more kids under 12 is access.

Because in all honesty, a 12 year old can still be pretty much NOT sexually mature. Twelve is just the beginning of that phase in a child's life and while some kids have reached sexual maturity at that age, a great many have not but still more closely resemble children, not men.

That whole argument is just an attempt to downplay the seriousness of the issue by making it look not so bad.

IOW, damage control.

“What we are seeing is a terrible failure of leadership.”

The homosexual infiltration into the church was addressed in Michael Rose’s book “Good Bye Good Men” in 2002 - so none of this is a surprise to me.

The problem is homosexuality, plain and simple - the pederasty narrative, although real and caused by the homosexual cabal that has infested the church, was a narrative designed to obfuscate the real issue: homosexuals forming a large subculture in the church and seminaries.

The above quote is from our Bishop (Albany Diocese). This failure of leadership of course starts with the Pope and his immediate predecessors. To clarify, our Bishop did not call out the Pope, however, nothing will be solved until the entire Tiber swamp is drained.

The problem is not celibacy, it is homosexuality.

http://lastingleaders.com/reason-for-clergy-shortage-just-ask-why-pastors-leave-churches/

The protestant churches are having problems finding pastors, and they can be married.

We are living in an extremely secular post Christian era right now and married priests would not solve this problem.

Are you one of those crazy heretical snake handlers who made an altar call and thinks you’re already “saved”?

There would be NO 'snake handlers' if Rome hadn't included that in the Book it compiled so long ago.

So what is HERETICAL about it; anyway?

Because it ain't one of Rome's 'traditions'?

Until the Pope clears out the gays that infest the Vatican, it’s all talk

Exactly. But at least, this time it is the right talk by a respected cardinal, whom Francis demoted.

Full cooperation with relevant law enforcement agencies would be a nice way to start

You assume the Church does not fully cooperate? It is a part of the canon law that if a crime appears to have been committed, the Church notifies the civil criminal authority.

The root scandal, as Cardinal Burke writes, is prevalence and tacit acceptance of homosexuality in the clergy. That is, however, not a civil crime, so there is nothing to report, until a child is swept in.

Active homosexuality is, however, condemned by the Church; active homosexuality even among consenting adult priests is reason for defrocking. So homosexuality between consenting adults was a secret, and at the same time, homosexuals tend to look for partners. The product of that was the "Lavender mafia": an informal tight network of priests confiding in a few fellow active homosexuals and having enough dirt of one another to threaten would-be defectors. That existed not to molest minors but to simply protect adult homosexuality.

The gay agenda both inside and outside the Church has an interest in replacing homosexuality as the chief concern with pedophilia. But that is mendacious: the reality is that when gay men are a figure of authority to minors, AND they have a network to cover up any homosexual behavior, criminal or not, they would use the network to also cover up pedophilia.

Catholics should stop tolerating gay priests, whether they commit crimes of rape and child molestation or not.

>> Christians follow CHRIST.<<

Well it certainly doesn’t appear you’re a Christian. Judging from your comments, it seems you’re more likely a follower of Beelzebub! If not, which of the thousands of heretical sects do you currently favor?

No Miss Elsie, I do on occasion refer to both my Dad and my Pastor “father”, just as I do my Maker when I pray the Lord’s prayer. By the way, who do you call father, your mother?

The city of Rome compiled a book about snake handlers? I want a copy, what’s the title?

I suppose cultural "feelers" were being sent out about this decades earlier.

The movie "Mass Appeal" (1984) has some homosexual seminarians as part of the plot.
