Cruel: A spokesman for a prominent Native American tribe is blasting uber-Left-wing politicians in deep blue coastal states for using onerous EPA regulations to deny his people the opportunity to coal, gas, and other forms of energy.

The Daily Caller reports that officials in a small number of coastal states led by Washington are essentially denying Crow Tribal members the opportunity to earn a much better living.

CJ Stewart, a Crow Tribal member and co-founder of the National Tribe Energy Association, told the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works Thursday that his people are dependent on producing energy to survive.

I guess Billings Montana is not a popular destination for the middle aged vacation gambling set.

Destroying the potential for people to get wealthy is the purpose of regulation.

“officials in coastal states.” To be clear, all the “coastal” states are run by the democrat party: CA, OR, WA. We know all about the democrat party’s history of racism regarding American blacks, and we’re now seeing it aimed at Native Americans as well. All those identity groups that comprise the democrat party would be well-advised to take note; they could be next.

Exactly.

We have three acres and a gas royalty that gives us a hundred or two (depending on output) every month.

I'm on fixed income and believe me, that money comes in VERY handy at times.

The rear end to my '96 pickup went out last week ... I went and found a used one for a hundred and twenty five and it didn't come out of my less than a thou SS check.

“Destroying the potential for people to get wealthy is the purpose of regulation.”

Never heard it put that way before. Well said.

Rhetorical Question:

Is there any American minority group the left doesn’t despise? From white heterosexual males to Indians, the party does carry on their KKK legacy

The Left hates prosperity, particularly in victim groups.

Build hospitals and clinics on reservations instead of casinos. Free market health care. Then watch.

It is incumbent that Republican voters turn out in droves in November to give him more power to deep-six these ridiculous, job-killing regs so all Americans can live the same dream of a better life.

The Crow tribe was a pro-US tribe, along with the Shoshone, Ute, Nez Pierce, Pawnee, Kaw, Ree, Bannock and Winnebago tribes and opposed to the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes in the wars of 1976, who destroyed Custer.

For compliance with federal environmental regs tribes have 3 choices: the tribal environmental department makes a compliance plan and submits it to EPA for a primacy program, cooperate with a home state primacy program (NM Navajo Nation), or have EPA administer the program directly (OK Osage Mineral Reserve).

Why does a tribe need to recognize the EPA? Tribes can set up casinos without State or Federal action. Don’t the treaties still control the relationship between two sovereign states?
