Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner on Friday said he plans to present an amendment preventing President Trump from “arbitrarily revoking security clearances.”
Warner’s announcement came after Trump earlier this week revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan and hinted Friday that he would soon do the same for Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr.
“I will be introducing an amendment next week to block the President from punishing and intimidating his critics by arbitrarily revoking security clearances,” Warner tweeted. “Stay tuned.”

Anyone can add an amendment. Get a Congressman Vet out there to add one where anyone in Congress should have a minimum of 2 years of active service in the armed forces and had a prior secret clearance before running for office. I see absolutely no reason a person needs one when he is no longer in the slot that requires it. This Brennan guy reminds me of so many slime balls that were given a big responsibility and let it go to their heads. Watch out, you may find him on the 2020 Dem. ticket.

No prior Administration should still have security clearance when they are no longer working in Govt..there is zero reason for them to still have it. I dont care what political party they belong to, when their tenure is done, security clearance should be over as well..but the deep state commie loons love Brennan since he has a huge disdain for America and of course supports Hamas

Mark Warner is eyeball deep in Russia-Gate. He has ulterior motive to fight Trump on this.
I don’t understand why ANY former administration official keeps their security clearance when they leave. I have wondered about this since Clinton was in office.
The Presidential Transition is the time for Administration officials to close out their work. They read in the incoming officials who are replacing them to any classified programs/information they are involved in. Once they are done and no longer have he “need to know”, their security clearance is suspended for 30 days pending any unforeseen action required by the new administration. After 30 days, it expires.
“Revoke security clearances on ALL ex-employees.”
I never understood why it wasn’t always done that way. If a former employee can demonstrate to the government they need it, then an exception can be made.
The liberals have yet to explain how revoking a security clearance = silencing Trump’s critics.
Don’t give Brennan any ideas. He’ll send his lawyer to the 9th Circuit tonight.

Yes, NOVA is like the Northeast, but some parts of Fairfax and Arlington is like the Ol’ South, and Warner is appealing to the ol’ school yellow dog Clinton-Obama Democrats needed to win VA.
Republicans would be smart to invest aggressively in NOVA in the fall. Campaign in VA.
Warner won in 2008 and 2014 because he appealed to NASCAR dads.
Warner will be seen as a likely 2020 Democratic candidate, but Warner is too wealthy, too centrist, too ancestrally Virginian-Eastern-Southern to win.

I’ve been on my “public servants” for years to pass a law requiring everyone in DC to submit to the same pre-hire, post-accident and random alcohol and drug screenings that us truck drivers, pilots and ship captains are subject to. The Capitol would become a ghost town.
If someone is released from service, if what value is a security clearance? Satisfy curiosity?

Yep. I spent two years packing heat at DoJ and three years at the Five-Sided Rathole during the Clinton regime. I was even handling compartmentalized Q and Cosmic paperwork above my security level. When I left, I got debriefed, signed a couple papers, and my clearance wasn’t worth a sheet of toilet paper when I walked out the door.
