So storms have been clobbering y’all, too, huh? I hope they do leave you alone tonight.
We had a hard hit at the farm last night and I’m keeping a close eye on the radar now. Another line of storms headed this way from the same area as last night. *sigh*

My heart leapt to my throat when I saw this last night. That little building is the pump house for our well! Couldn't tell until I got up close that the limb missed it .... BARELY.

Thankfully, the soybeans bounced back beautifully today. Last night, the beans along the edges of the fields were standing but the rest were laid down.

Today they looked soooooo much better.

Now we're sweating over a possible repeat of last night.

Back when Yuri Andropov was running the KGB, if you were a spy stationed in the US and you wanted to ingratiate yourself with the boss, you would come home with the latest album by the Modern Jazz Quartet or Miles Davis. Andropov’s love of American jazz matched Brezhnev’s love of American booze.

This is a 1952 recording of the MJQ with Milt Jackson.

It certainly is! I was stunned to see them looking so good so quickly. I didn’t know if they’d stand back up at all, to be honest.

At the moment, it looks like the storms are calming down as they get closer and we hope they don’t fire up again like last night. We had no warning at all that we’d get clobbered so hard. There was another large chunk of tree knocked out by lightning as well as a lot of other debris scattered around. Thankfully no building damage.
