It is up to those of us who know better to convince Americans of socialism’s folly.

Socialism – effects:

economics & politics:

universal wage and price controls
increases in quantity demanded
decreases in quantity and quality of supply
shortages
rationing
hoarding
endless waiting lines
massive black markets
failure of centralized planning and bureaucratic management
anarchy of production
socialist quota system
technological backwardness
economic chaos in distribution and production
decreased or paralyzed individual initiative to make improvements
economic stagnation, decline, and decay followed by increased poverty and economic collapse
increased exploitation and powerlessness of the massas
tyranny, forced labor, terror, and mass murder
aristocratic privilege and elitist court society for leaders and their favorites

morality:

- It is a fact of reality that socialism and statism require force, and therefore, are incompatible with individual rights
- it is a fact of reality that socialism and statism are harmful to life,
- therefore, socialism and statism are an objectively anti-life, and are immoral.

Misdirected energy.

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t win because she is a socialist.

She won because Crowley is white.

“have no idea”

I don’t think they care as long as they benefit from it.
Because they are ALL self serving hypocrite phonies.

Erdogan, the leader of Turkey said, “Democracy is like a bus you ride to the destination you want and then get off.”

That about sums up Democratic socialism too. Once you have it, there’s no going back without lots of bloodshed. Like any war, it’s better to solve the problem before the war starts than to rely on winning the war. You may win, but the cost is always higher than anyone expects.

I’m sure the left won’t go too far and cause reactionary movements to form in opposition to them. That totally never happens.

As an econ major, she either slept through her classes or never got the degree in the first place. Her statements imply that gov't tax policy is impact-neutral. That is, gov't tax policies have no effect on economic activity or growth. Given that stance, I'd like to see her explain the huge jump in economic activity, lower unemployment rates despite increased labor force participation rates which occurred as soon as the repressive economic policies of Obama were peeled back.

"The rich need to pay their fair share." I agree, but since the top 10% of income earners in the US foot 72% of total tax receipts, I'd argue for tax cuts on the rich. Like it or not, they provide jobs which leads to economic growth. And here's the part liberals miss: If the pie is growing at 4% per year, even if your share of that pie doesn't change, you disposable income is also rising. Cut taxes, and it rises even more.

"But that creates a deficit!" No...spending creates a deficit. Buffet proposed a simple solution to the "elect-me" spending Congress engages in: Anyone in Congress who votes for a budget that increases the deficit by 3% or more, cannot run for reelection. You'd see the Free-Cell-Phones-for-Deadbeats program die in a heartbeat.

Cortex is a very, very, bad joke.

only 47 percent view capitalism positively

Well then, the Democratic party should go full socialist, and with some good campaigning by the GOP [whoops, I see the problem here] we should be able to get at least half that 47% for our side. The dems lose everything, except SF, some boroughs in NY, Santa Cruz, and Austin.

They don’t care. They only care that they have power and can force everyone else to go along with the narcissistic fantasy that drives them.

If they truly believe in their economic theories, they don’t need to wait for the government. Rich lefties (Warren, Michael Moore, hollywood) are free to buy or create private companies where all profits go to employees. Or some profits go to investing in more “pro-worker” corporations. They claim these policies will improve productivity and won’t decrease competitiveness. Prove it (and don’t take a personal profit from it). If they pool their money, they can have more funds than most of the “greedy rich guys” they complain about and should be able to control a lot of corporations and franchises.

But rich lefties put their money into investments with ROI for themselves, not corporations that are “pro-worker” or “environmentally-friendly” to the degree they want. They want ME to pay for the policies they want and their accountants will just invest overseas if the policies start impacting their personal ROI.

Here’s a thought: why not create a privately funded program for “influential” socialists to have a round trip air ticket visit to a socialist country for a month? This serves several goals.

1) First and foremost, it gets them out of the US for a month.

2) It creates many brawls among socialists as to which of them is “influential”.

3) They actually have to either pay for their room and board “with the people”, unless the socialist nation’s government is willing to pay for it. Which means they will have to convert their dollars into Razbuckniks, or whatever the local currency is.

4) At least part of their visit will be on the local Aeroflot quality airlines.

5) Much of their visit will be occupied by food poisoning and dysentery.

6) They should be encouraged to write about their visit.

Other than openly socialist politicians, the primary group here should be academics and prominent socialist journalists.

Socialism operates under the premise that the state not only has the authority to take what rightfully belongs to one man to give it to another, but has a duty to do so..... Whether it is socialized education, or socialized health care, or socialized medication, or socialized retirement, or simply the taking of cash from one man to give to another, it is of a piece.

When one man takes from another by force we rightly call this stealing, something forbidden by God in the Ten Commandments...... When ten men or ten million men ‘elect civil leaders to take the wealth of others by force’, this too is something forbidden by God in the Ten Commandments.

We cannot feed the hungry in Jesus name if we have just taken the food from our neighbor. Instead we are baptizing what we are really doing, giving what we have taken in Caesar’s name. ‘We have to give freely’, from our own blessing.

If you try to tell these Socialist Democrats that Socialism is bad and look at Venezuela, they always come back with “but Norway”.

Here’s a great article in Forbes that explains Norway and Sweden are NOT socialist countries. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffreydorfman/2018/07/08/sorry-bernie-bros-but-nordic-countries-are-not-socialist/
