If government officials are so politicized against the president that he can't trust them...

Posted on 08/19/2018 11:30:24 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

If government officials or former government officials are so politicized against the president to the point he can no longer trust them or the "deep experience and advice" they are offering to the administration, is that sufficient grounds for POTUS to pull their security clearances?

Yes. One very good reason among others.

Did he not accuse the President of Treason?

“In a statement on Wednesday, Mr. Trump cited what he called Mr. Brennan’s “erratic” behavior and “increasingly frenzied commentary,” as grounds for stripping the former intelligence chief of his access to classified information, saying that Mr. Brennan had abused his security clearance “to make a series of unfounded and outrageous allegations.””

This alone was sufficient !

“Last month, Mr. Brennan said the president should be impeached for “treasonous” behavior after Mr. Trump stood next to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia ”

The day anyone with a security clearance leaves the government service, or a direct official role where they need a security clearance, it should be suspended. There should be no exception. It is unbelievable that people like Brennan and others, some even fired, still have their security clearances. I don’t care which party they align,

Mark Steyn said it best. He recently noted that there is no constitutional right to a security clearance. So the POTUS can pull a security clearance for any reason, or for no reason at all.

This is true in all large bureaucracies, and Fed.gov is among the biggest in the world.

Trump is absolutely an outsider, whereas Clinton had 25 years to plant her allies and cronies throughout the government. As we see with Brennan, Comey and Strzok, as a very small, but representative sample, these are in no way “neutral bureaucrats.” They are smug, arrogant, self-righteous political operators.

And many still exist in a city and Federal Bureaucracy that still hates Trump.

I think that pulling all of their clearances would not go well over politically. I think a better approach would be, via executive order, place all the X-employees or office holders in a “not need to know” category. They could be re-instated on a case by case basis if necessary.

They would keep the clearance but it would make it a very serious offense for anyone to share information with them. If after the 5 year renewal period they still didn’t have a need to know, then let their SC lapse.

I’ve talked to every day folks, not policy wonks like us FReepers.

Nobody cares.

They’re mildly interested when I tell them former high-ranking civilian government officials get to KEEP their security clearances, and get angry when I tell them that us Military veterans and retirees have to give up ours the minute we leave a position requiring it. Need to know, not a right, all of that.

So the media is once again beating a dead horse that won’t get up and overtake Trump in a thousand years. Those cheering for Trump simply do not care about their false hysterics.

Absolutely.

The larger issue at hand here is the manner in which all security clearances are managed.

No one should be able to automatically retain a security clearance upon leaving the military, government position or political office.

Security clearance is not a legal right. It is bestowed only by the executive branch of government , The President is , has been , and will be the supreme authority of the executive branch. The President can bestow security clearance on any basis he chooses and he can take it away. There is no constitutional argument to the contrary.
Brennan is trying to hunt down a democrat socialist hack judge that will enjoin the President from asserting his absolute prerogative. Since there are many anti constitutional judges ( as we saw in immigration issues) , he may find one even as absurd as that might seem. IT WILL BE OVERTURNED . But in the process , the Presidents lawyers will take the traitors deposition as to his leadership in the attempted but failed coup, since it is directly relevant to his status as a holder of a security clearance. It will be breathtakingly funny to watch him melt before those penetrating questions which he MUST answer truthfully.

Absolutely, the President should be able to pull a clearance of any non elected government official if he can’t trust them.

It seems to me that the President should be able to pull anyone’s security clearance anytime he wants.

Yes. President Trump has enough to do without having to put up with former government agents trying to undermine his efforts to bring back a strong and prosperous America. Effectively, the agents against him have no business trying to founder his legitimate presidency. They are frankly working AGAINST the American people, not just against President Trump. Furthermore they are unelected so must be held accountable by the executive branch instead of being allowed to run roughshod over the elected government.

Take a look at the European Union whose decision making heads are UNELECTED bureaucrats. EU Members have no freedom to run their own countries. This is the ideal of the One World Order. Under President Trump we have resisted their example.

Culprits must be held responsible and should be brought up on charges even of TREASON when they plot to overthrow the duly elected government.
