If Sessions resigns, Rosenstein is the acting AG until Trump can get his own person in there. Trump will fire Rosenstein and force Sessions to resign after the midterms and the Kavanaugh confirmation.
Trump has to win more seats in both houses in November. At that point, I think, he will fire Sessions pdq.
