The United States Geological Survey is reporting a magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred approximately 30 miles northwest of Parachute shortly after 4 a.m. Friday morning.
The USGS is reporting the depth of the quake was about 3 miles.
At this point, there are no reports of damage or injuries.
I don’t know where Parachute is.
I know what one is but that I am sure is quite different.
I am from Los Angeles. A 4.3 is go back to sleep level.
Where is parachute?
On your back when you jump out of a plane, but that’s not important right now.
Parachute CO Im guessing! West of Denver.
Click on the link. Shows right where it is.
West Colorado, just short of the border.

Say WHAT????
Do you know where you are???
;)
Glad it was small.
But the Ring Of Fire has been VERY active lately. If I was still in CA I would be a bit nervous. Nothing you can do except prepare (which everyone is So Cal with 2 brain cells does).

Because CA has so many quakes, the ground is rather cracked and broken, so it doesn’t propagate seismic waves so well. Small quakes feel relatively larger where the ground is more intact. A mid-3s quake is felt over much more of the East Coast than a 4 is felt in LA. CO is relatively unscathed by quakes, so the same effect may apply here, too. (But, I slept through this one.)
We had a 6 + off the coast(Oregon), early Wednesday morning. A friend’s dog was fretting on the porch beforehand, and slept in a closet, afterward.
Parachute is pretty much due south of Yellowstone
I’m sorry. Meant to include that in the headline. It’s western Colorado. I’m in Grand Junction, just west of Parachute along I70 corridor.
Unlike LA, we experience very few noteable quakes. When it happens here, it’s big news. Lol
It was small for California, but we don’t get a lot of noteable earthquakes here in Western Colorado. Last time was a handful of years ago. I thought I had gotten away from this when I left Cali
Where the Fakawi? And, where is Parachute?
If its not on the coast, it must be due to fracking!
/s
Parachute is in Western Colorado, about 100 miles or so from the Utah border, along the I70 corridor.
We’re doomed! Doooooomed!
I’m in Durango. As the crow flies, that’s about 180 miles south. Didn’t feel anything.
Thanks for posting, dware.
