Dems reform superdelegates in olive branch to Sanders supporters
NY Post ^ | 8/25/18 | Mary Kay Linge

The Democratic National Committee passed new rules Saturday that will sideline superdelegates in the presidential selection process — a radical shift that was pushed by the party’s left-leaning Bernie Sanders wing.

The change will sharply reduce the power of party insiders in the 2020 primaries. Coming ahead of November’s crucial midterms, the move also signals the Democrats’ increasing reliance on young progressive voters who they hope will turn out in unprecedented numbers this fall.

**SNIP**

In 2016, Hillary Clinton used that history to her advantage. As the party establishment’s favorite, she locked up the support of a majority of the superdelegates before a single primary ballot was cast — effectively barring the door for her insurgent opponent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

um...I thought the RATs made it harder for Bernie to run in the DNC without being a RAT ?

He’s been playing this crap Indie game too long. He took 91% of the RAT vote in Vermont’s senate primary, then turned down the nomination he originally sought. By being on the RAT ballot, it keeps other RATs from running. He’s been doing it for years.

He will try to do it again if he wins the RAT presidential nomination.

That doesn't sound like the whole story. What I heard is the superdelegates don't vote until the second round. That means the elite just need to lob a monkey into the first round so nobody gets a majority and they can have their way.

Great! That means they will be forced to nominate a rabid barking moonbat in 2020.

After their 45 state loss in 2020, the demonrats will go back to rigged show primaries and backroom deals to choose their nominee.

This is exactly how they nominated McGovern in 1972. In the general election all those party insiders who had been sidelined at the convention sat on their hands and let Nixon crush McGovern.

As I understand it, the superdelegate system was started after Carter got nominated. He was considered a long term danger to the Democrats as he was too radical for the then accepted political norms. It was thought he’d lead to future losses in Democratic seats. He did inaugurate malaise and consequently lost the presidency to Ronald Reagan. In this, the Democratic party functionaries were correct. If it hadn’t been for Carter being such a lousy president we’d probably never have gotten Ronald Reagan as the next president.

Somehow, the adult guiding lights of the Democratic party have gone out. I suspect they were victims of the success of the party in marrying a large number of grievance groups under their wing. The grievance groups demanded and got more and more representation, until, now, there is nothing; no guiding principle wedded to being melting-pot Americans; just angry grievance groups. Those groups are tearing the party apart. (Anybody got any popcorn?)

Under the new rules, superdelegates will still be named. But they will only be allowed to vote if the convention deadlocks and fails to settle on a presidential candidate on its first ballot.

Watch the Dems deadlock on the first ballot if the “wrong” (non-insider) candidate is selected by the rat-voting public.

The new method is the one they tested this past cycle: obtain the mailing lists of the unfavored candidate who might win, falsely inform states that the people on those lists are no longer Democrats so they can’t vote in the primaries.

This sounds like an attempt to actually make sure the DNC elites get to pick the candidate, while simultaneously telling the Clinton clan their power is gone, and to leave quietly out the side door.

not just a victory for Sanders, but also all of the wacko leftists far to the left of Bernie as well ... the Dem presidential candidates will now all try to out-leftist each other to cater to the furthest extremes of their party ... the Dem presidential primaries and debates are going to be something to behold and it ain’t gonna be a pretty thing for the Dems ... be sure to stock up on popcorn right now before the shelves run bare ...
